Zsara, so sorry to hear about your rough day - and your fallen officers. That is so tragic and heart wrenching. I hope you are able to deal with everything you have going on. I know that when a co-worker of mine was killed (also shot) a few years ago, it made absolutely everything incredibly difficult to deal with. It was like I just had nothing left in me. I would break down crying at the littlest things. I'm sure I would have been a total wreck trying to deal with my pup going into surgery - that's already scary! Anyway, hang in there, and let us know how you're doing.

We are H O M E.......

I went to pick up Blade and The Vet allowed me to sit in the back with him for a while till he got his sea-legs back. I hugged and kissed him as I reassured him that Mommy was there and that it would be alright.

He seemed eager to sit in the front seat for his ride home even though he could barely walk. I bought a seat belt a while ago and it really came in handy this time. Well, Blade is home in our bedroom. He is on his dog bed resting peacefully. ;) I pray that there will be no ill after affects as a resultof the surgery. He was also micro-chipped while he was there. Say a prayer for us as he is truly a member of my family and I couldn't stand anything happening as a result of me trying to do the right thing in having him neutered. smashicon ;)

Zsara, you did the right thing (in my opinion). Blade will be just fine, but don't worry if it takes him a little while to completely get over the anesthesia. Riley was still stumbling around 12 hours later and I was really worried, but he soon went back to being completely normal (i.e. bouncy and goofy!).

On a separate note, I am so sorry to hear about your colleagues. You've had a lot to deal with the last couple of days, haven't you? Hang in there and know we're thinking about you!

Hi Zsara, How is Blade feeling this morning? DOnt be surprised if he is not the happy. peppy little guy he should be for a few days- it is normal. Just keep an eye on the incision.

I am VERY sorry to hear about your collegues! Having a father that is an agent i can sympathize with what you are going through. If you need anything let me know ok.

Blade was baby-ed all night long.

This morning he was still moving slow when I let him out to go to the potty. He hadn't eaten in 24 hours so I offered him some food and fresh water. 8 hours later he is by my side and pushing my hands away from the computer keyboard ...being his normal spoiled self!

The 2nd officers funeral is tomorrow....It will be another L o N G day...:(

Thanks for all the support.

Hi Zsara,

Just had you and Blade on my mind today and wanted to check in and see how both of you are doing. I am very glad that Blade is feeling better after his surgery and I hope you made it through your very sad and tragic ordeal today. I will keep you and your family in my prayers. Try to keep you chin up...you know we are all thinking of you. ;) Deb K.

Blade's stitches were removed yesterday!

He is the first male dog I have ever had neutered, and I know I made the right decision. He is back to his normal, happy, handsome self.
;)
It feels good to have your pet up todate with all required shots, etc, that will help them live long and happy lives.

My next purchase will be a spay and neuter T-Shirt to wear during the pet adoption shows when I volunteer. Thanks to all who helped me make the sound decison to neuter my baby.

Spay/Neuter

I too am a firm believer of spaying and neutering. I worked at a humane society,(kill shelter) and you wouldn't believe how many pure bred dogs were Euthanized due to not being spayed or neutered or not being able to find a new home in the time they were given (3 months). some people are very irresponsible pet owners. I am not saying that anyone is irresponsible, but I had to see all of the beautiful innocent healthy dogs being killed, and just being thrown out for the trash guy to take to the dump. I worked there for two years and rescued about 200 animals in that time spread, had them spayed or neutered and found them nice new homes. Dogs and cats do not deserve to die just due to overpopulation. I do not have one animal on my property that is not spay or neutered. I hated to see how many died in one day at that shelter. I am a very big animal lover. I saw about 62% put to death each year and 38% find new homes.

Zsara - I'm glad Blade's neuter went well. I also just went through the same experience with Riley. He was just neutered on 9/9. That night he was very sleepy and wanted to cuddle, which I knew he would be. By the next day, he was completely back to normal testing me. I say testing me because I had to come up with ways to keep him from running and jumping. It was difficult, but we did manage!!
