Just 1 for this household

I am the prime caregiver here too and one large spoiled dog in the house is enough for me. Jag is a lot of work in fact he is like having another child with walks, car rides, vets appts., shopping at petsmart  not to mention the extra expense of doggie necessities. Not too sure I could handle another.

I guess it is whatever you prefer. We have friends that have 2 Boxers and she says it is twice the fun.

Good luck with your decision MyBoySamson!

We LOVE having 2!!

We started with one, and went to two. Tyson was an only dog with separation anxiety and a ton of energy. We got Ali a month after we go Tyson. I tell you it was the best decision we ever made. Yes they eat twice as much, cost twice as much in general, but they keep each other company when we are gone, and for those days when you don't have as much energy they play with each other. Also I guess I should mention Tyson would play rough with us because when we got home he had been bored all day, now the play mode has gone down a notch because our babies play together like boxers and play with us like dogs with humans if that makes any sense?!? Not to mention, if you ever watch your boxer play with a group of other boxers I don't think many breeds play the way they do (almost rough at times) I say get another boxer!! smashicon but don't forget the cost! Both of our fur babies have health issues which cost money!! Best of luck to you!! Mom to 2

I only have one right now but I am getting another one for Valentine's Day 2005. I was going to get one for my birthday Sunday but we decided since I will be out of town for Thanksgiving and again for Christmas it wouldn't be a good idea to get one now. Now I have to wait but it will be worth it! Boxer kisses on both checks at the same time. Love it!

I have one Boxer and one Rottweiler. I would have been happy with two Boxers, but my husband insisted that he wanted a Rottweiler. They get along great. They wear each other out. Definitely costs more, but it's worth the extra cost. Also Crash (the Rottweiler) has been catching on to house breaking quite fast as he's been copying his big brother Tyson.

Two is better than One

We have two boxers - a male who is 6 years old and a female who is 18 months, and we can't figure out why we didn't get 2 earlier? They have such fun together and have such a great time playing we feel sorry for all the years where Shaka was all alone.
The downside is that now there are 2 dogs wanting your undivided attention. Of course, I have 2 hands so can be petting a dog with each hand - but, I don't know how people handle 3?

I have 2 boxers- Evie is 2 and Adam is about 18 months. Never a dull moment with these two!! Lots of work- but SO SO worth it!

Two are SOOO much better than one. They run around the house playing all the time. I have no problems taking two for a walk and they are in love with each other. lovicon

Also less guilt when I have to leave them for work;)

As I stated in my earlier post I have two but I want to offer a suggestion. We have a friend with just one boxer (female brindle) and he was considering getting a second dog so she would have a playmate. He was unsure about the extra expense (vet, food, etc) He came to us and asked if he could dog sit for us when we are at work as he is retired. This has been a wonderful solution for him and for us. He comes over each morning during the week and picks up my two and then heads to the dog park with all three. He brings them home later in the day or sometimes takes them home with him and I pick them up after work. On the weekends we all meet at the dog park. This weekend he is hunting and I have all the dogs. When we need to go away for more than a short time, he takes them all with him. This is an awesome setup as the dogs love each other and we never have to kennel our babies. I have seen posts about how much to pay a dog sitter and consider myself very fortunate as he thinks we are doing him a favor by letting him "borrow" our dogs. Maybe this is an option you could try if there is someone in your area that needs a playmate.
