Our 5 month old pup Izzy seemed to have a mild cold last week (just a slightly runny nose, but otherwise spunky and energetic), but she vomited on Friday night, and again Saturday morning. When she turned her nose up at some boiled chicken, we knew something was really wrong and booked an appointment with the vet right away. It turns out she had pneumonia. She's been on antibiotics since then, but still sleeps most of the time, and coughs quite a bit (with some white foam coming up every once and a while). On the up side, her appetite is back in full swing (we've been feeding chicken and rice, and I've been making the rice pretty soupy to make sure she's getting fluids). Does anyone know how long it might take for the coughing to ease up, and the energy levels to get a little higher? Any care taking tips (besides making sure she finishes her round of antibiotics)? Thanks!

Oh your poor little one. What a sin. But she's on the right track now. It's only been a few days since she started the antibiotics. Sounds like you're doing everything right. I think resting is good for her. She's eating and drinking and now she just needs to get her strenght back up. Pneumonia takes a lot out of anyone let alone a wee little one like her. Lots of TLC and do you have a coat for her when she goes out to do her doo. I'm sure by the time she got all her antibiotics gone she'll be fine. Just don't rush her. Good Luck.
