Abby&Baxmom

Boxer Buddy
I have been a very nervous mom since July. Abby began to go lame in her back hind leg. The doctor thought maybe she tore something so a joint tap was done as well as x-rays. Everything was normal. She still had a hard time getting up the stairs and on the bed. She is only 2 1/2. We went to OSU Vet Hospital for further testing and it turns out she has 2 cysts in her knee, osteoarthritis in her leg, her rear hocks are swollen and there are many bone abnormalities. I have been a wreck. Each time she steps, and puts weight on her leg, her knee swells. She has since had two more joint taps just to check the fluids and we have been back to OSU for more treatments. We have tried one from of oral medicine (taken with a syringe - can not think of the name) and after a week it no longer gave her relief. Then we tried a steriod shot and a week of crate rest hoping to get 4-6 months of relief. Again it worked a week and then quit. The doctors of OSU are taking very good care of her when she is there. They have just never seen a dog like her before with all of these problems in the same leg. Our last step is surgury and that is happening on Friday. Thet are going to go in and do a TPLO and see what else is going on that they might be able to repair. We take her in on Thursday and I can pick her up on Saturday or Sunday when she is ready. Right now she is on Cosequin for her joints and that seems to help a little. Please keep your fingers crossed and say a prayer that this works. She has been limping since June.

Sure will say a prayer and also (((((((positive))))))) healing vibes to your baby. Hope she is up running around here real soon and back to normal, it is so painful to see your babies under the weather and it sounds like she has been down awhile. Keep us posted.

At least she is in good hands at OSU. My boss and a guy I work with take their dogs there and they just love it.

Keep thinking positive. I hope Abby feels better soon.
