In some areas where there may be unknown dogs, it is advised not to walk a puppy until they have most of their shots.

We live in New York City and had to wait till Lucy had 3 shots. We used to carry her in a pet pouch -- it was so cute. Her little face just showed!

Ellie is just the cutest little puppy ever lovicon It would be a good idea to have a safe place for your cat to run where the puppy can't get to her. That way she will know she can get away if Ellie gets too rough.

Don't worry too much about Ellie and Mia. They will eventually come to some kind of understanding. I also have a cat that I had before Sam came along. She absolutely hated him at first (she's still not crazy about him). He would chase her around and it didn't seem to matter that she hissed and clawed at him, he would still go after her every time. Now that he is older (7 months), he still likes to chase her some but it seems that the fun wears off more quickly now. And like Faughety said, have somewhere for Mia to go. My cat has a room in the basement where she likes to sleep, and Sam can't get to her there.
Ellie is an angel, and she's lucky to have a mommy (or mum) that cares so much.

Thank you for all the advice that has been given to me. Still no real improvement with Ellie and Mia :o(

Ellie has the run of downstairs and Mia has the run of down/upstairs so when she has had enough of Mia chasing her she goes and gets in our bed!! Although Mia spends most of the time sleeping upstairs she has the bonus of sleeping with me in bed all night and i'm sure she feels like she is getting one over on Mia ;o)

I've put some more photo's in my gallery and one is of Ellie and Mia... its quite a good photo!!!

Ellie and i went to look around a training school last night... which we both loved so next week we are back at school :o) I'm a little nervous!!! Also, does anyone have any suggestions about this... Ellie pees when she gets excited or whenever anyone talks, touches or fusses her.. how am i going to train her when i'm gonna have a mop in my hand permanantly??? Will she grow out of this? I have to make visiters go in the garden to greet her as she does it at home and sometimes if i've popped upstairs for a moment she pees when i come back down :o)

Anyway, thanks again for all the response you are all great!!!

Beautiful Pics! And you are right that is a great photo of the two The peeing will get better! I can remember when Angel was little it seemed like she peed if you just looked in her direction! LOL! I also used to let her outside when people came in otherwise there would be a puddle there. Ah puppies! Those are the days lovicon

I too have a 7 year old feline named Buddy and when Tessa (our boxer baby) came into our lives, Buddy couldn't stand it!! HE would chase Tessa!! hissing and clawing (very scary), but when Tessa started to run, she ran right for Buddy - I guess she felt she owed him! Now the two have an understanding that we (my boyfriend and I) don't get involved in. If Tessa gets too annoying for Buddy he'll retaliate and Tessa knows he's had enough. Buddy also has a safe place in the house too, so when Tessa is too out-of-control Buddy just hides from her. I think as long as the cats tail is wagin' that the cat is happy, and as long as the dog knows its limitations then dogs and cats can get along and live happily with one another.

btw cute pics! I love brindles! Good luck with all the training. My only advice and my only regret is that I didn't teach her early enough not to jump up on people. I thought it was really cute when she was small, but now that she's so big it's really annoying when she knocks my company down to the ground. I'm working on this problem, but it's going to be a loooong learning process

I'm glad I read your post. My 5 month old boxer, Beau, has the same "sprinkling" problem. Another member told me that Beau should out grow it...hopefully sooner than later!! It only happens when he is excited and knows he is about to get loved on. But it sure does get frustrating though when you start to notice little dribbles on your carpet! Oh well, you would think that the fear of him tinkling on me would keep me from loving on him but it doesn't!! I can't get enough of my little Bo-Bo's lovin'!!!

Off subject---I'm just curious why you have to wait to walk your dogs or take them out til they have all of their shots? Is this just in Europe?

I was told it was the chance of the puppy getting parvo, a type of flu, which is nearly fatal to puppies. It is a virus that can be transferred from infected ground areas, and there is no way to tell if the ground is infected. I believe it is a very virulent virus (it can live a long time without a host). Anyhow, that is what my vet told me. True or not, just the chance it might be true is enough for me.

Hi Vicky

I'm sure you'll have great fun with Ellie at her training classes. Brando used to pee everytime he got excited too - but he gradually grew out of it - once he learned to control his bladder.

Brando used to bite us and chew on the sleeves of our clothes quite a lot when he was a pup (although he never really chewed any of the furniture), but again, he just grew out of that.

Now he's just a big boxer - daft as a brush and always up to mischief!! ha ha ha!
