Update on Little Regis

The vet from the animal shelter called Saturday AM and said we can picke him up Saturday between 4 and 5. We are so excited. He is so thin. We introduced him to Angelo 2 1/2 male brindle and they just love each other. Now Angelo developed a cough so we had to take him to the vet. Vet thinks he caught it when we took him to meet dogs at the rescue the previous week end. His cough sounds horrible. I stayed up all night with him as he can't get to sleep. Regis is on antibiotics from being sick prior to being neutered and now Angelo is on them, too. Please hope my little boys get better soon!

Update on Reggis and Angelo

I slept with Angelo on the floor in our family room and my husband slept with Regis in our bedroom last night because Angelos's cough is much worse. He sounds like a moose! I took him to the vet first this morning as I could not manage both dogs in the car with me. (Will take Regis when I get back with Angelo) My vet is not happy that Angelos cough is worse and gave him a shot of gentocin in his trachea? and gave him a shot of dexamethasone in his rear. We are also to start prednisone this afternoon. If we don't see any improvement by Tuesday late afternoon my vet wants Angelo to go to a specialist that is a good friend of his. My vet even called him and let him know that I could be calling him tomorrow afternoon. I"m worried sick that I did the right thing bringing Regis into our home at this time, but Angelo was not this ill at the time.........Angelo is to rest now.
2nd Trip to vet today with Regis, thank God this man loves animals and whenever I need him he makes time for my baby (now babies). He gave Regis a through looking over and ran some tests. He thinks he has been out doing the breeding thing as his rear is large under his tail, (was just neutered Friday so too soon to tell if a problem), he is severely underweight (could be from so much breeding), in addition he has tape worms (gor a shot for that and have to immediately flush his poop down the toilet ), has a lower left canine tooth fracture and upper respiratory infection (on antibiotics for that). My vet feels that he will clean up well. Need some time to bond, hopefully gain weight and then address the issue with his teeth.

I will be nursing my family. Thank you for your kind thoughts and I will keep you all posted. Vet bills expensive for the last few days. Cancelled Christmas with our friends out of town as we don't want to board the dogs now!

It sounds like Regis is going to have a great christmas. Bless you for saving him it sounds like he really needed an angel like you! I hope both Regis and Angelo feel better soon.
