Kim, I hope Oscar continues to improve and no more staples come out. My vets refuse to use them , saying they are useless!

I just go with that as I have only ever had my dogs stitched and apart from one girl getting a secondary infection, all has been well with sutures. It seems the doctors/vets and medics of this world are always looking for new methods of surgery etc. I do often wonder if all new methods are in reality an improvement on the old????

About him being in pain. My vets have always given me pain tabs to use for the first few days if I feel the dog requires them. If you have pain concerns , I would definately mention this to your vets! NO animal is expected or required to suffer any more than is totally unavoidable. Most surgery carries some pain and discomfort with it, but he is entitled and certainly can be given something to ease severe pain.

Boxers can be the most stoic of all breeds with pain, but I have learned over the years it dosnt always mean they are not feeling rotten.

Good luck with his speedy recovery and keep us posted:)

Hi Kim,
Sorry about this late post. I am so sorry to hear about Oscar but I know he will be his old Boxer self in no time! (you will be yelling at him to calm down before he hurts his insision again!)
This sounds almost the same thing as Puckers had last March , so I feel for the stress you went thru! I am glad his bloodwork came back O.K. , so he doesnt have to be on a special diet. Hope you guys can run full speed in no time.
