POTATO!!!

I just got off the phone with the vet (again). Guess what they found plugging him? A POTATO! A STUPID POTATO! Now I know I'm guilty for giving him quite a few veggies but I have never given him a WHOLE POTATO. Where/when did he get this????? The surgeon was laughing when she told me and apologized but had to say it was a first. She said "I began to palpate the stomach and felt a HUGE mass we didn't see on scope. Believing it to not be an ulcer, I went in and removed the mass. It was very odd-looking and squishy. The other vet assisting and I had no idea what it could be. Then I squeezed it until its contents could be exposed. Potato. Kinda like a whole baked potato. We both had a good laugh." Leave it to Oscar. I tell ya, he's given me more gray hairs then both my skin-kids combined.

Turns out his entire gut (stomach/intestinal tract) had begun to shut down also so it was good I got him in when I did. He has quite a major incision but should be home tomorrow.

Thanks for all your good thoughts/wishes. Remember to keep those potatos out of reach!

Holy cow! One never knows what they will get into next. Thanks for the update. Lexi and Baxter send good vibes and lots of slurps for a speedy recovery. Poor Oscar :(

Silly boy Oscar!! So glad he's on the mend, tell him next time to at least chew it!! Belle has gnawed on raw potatoes but has never swallowed one WHOLE!

Yay!!! I'm so glad to hear Oscar will fully recover. What a silly boy...he must have sneaked it when you weren't looking! Take care and let us know how his homecoming is.

Glad to hear Oscar will be ok,at least he ate a food product.My choc. lab just had surgery and they found a pair of size 10/12 boxer shorts.Those boxer shorts ended up costing me $997.00.If Oscar has as big of incision as bosco(28 staples) he will be very uncomfortable for the first couple of days.Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions,i will be glad to share my experience with you.
