I just saw this thread and totally understand everything your sister-in-law and her family are going through. My sister passed away five years ago from cancer (it will be exactly five years tomorrow) -- she was only 35. She left behind three children.

Update: Well, here is the run down on Tom's cancer. He has it in his Lung, Liver, Pancreas, bones, brain and they have been doing chemo and radiation and his tumors in his brain are getting bigger. The doctors give him little time left, he is losing lots of weight and sleeping just about all day. The doctors have also said his cancer is resistant to the radiation and the chemotherapy. Right now they are doing radiation to stop the pain and he is still taking chemo but in pill form. He is very weak and can't get up, he spends most of his time on the couch or in bed. Just thought I'd let you know. Thank you so much for the prayers and I will update if anything changes.

Just a little update on Tom. Things have gone severely downhill. The Doctors said last week that his liver was failing and he will eventually go into a coma and then die (they did not tell him this). Well, this weekend was the turning point. He now cannot get out of his bed (when he could a few days ago) they spoke with the Dr and he said Tom has maybe 1-3 days left (that was yesturday). Tom is now semi-conscious almost comatose, his eyes are rolling back in his head, and I am not even sure if he is responding. This whole thing still hasn't sunk into his family yet. They were still taking him to chemo last week even though the doctor said it hasn't worked at all. Please say some extra prayers for his family, this is going to him them hard even though we have been expecting it, they are not at all ready for it. Thanks for all the kind words and prayers.

Wow - and to think that all this happened in just a few short months... :(

My heart goes out to Tom and his family. Such an unbelievable tragedy for such a young family. I pray that Tom is free of pain in his last days, but will still hold out hope for a miraculous recovery.
