I wish I could give Tom a huge hug and lend some support...imagine, hearing all this in a week plus also loosing your wife and children? :eek: I would be too depressed to live. Sometimes life just is not fair. I'm sending prayers his way and hoping he is surrounded by people who love him in this crucial time.

Hi, everyone again Thank you for the support. Tom had a brain biopsy this morning, and as we thought he has brain cancer too (in 3 spots) so they are saying his condition is grave. His wife came back this morning to hear the results (he didn't know what happened yesturday with her leaving since he was pretty out of it with the anti-seizure meds and the brain swelling etc..) so, this morning she came after the biopsy (he was asking for her all morning before the biopsy) and they had to call someone in to help her she had a nervous breakdown/panic attack (I think I can relate I'm sure I would too) and they gave her Zanax (some heavy stuff). So, after awhile she calmed down, the hospital had everyone leave except his wife (Tom requested this). From what I understand (per my sister-in-law) his wife crawled into bed with him to snuggle and talk. I am glad that she got some medicine I am sure she is so over whelmed with all that is going on. I am just glad she is back by his side. Anyway, that is what has been going on today. I hope the weekend is uneventful. I guess they are talking about doing radiation in about 1 month-so his biopsy site can heal. Everyone have a nice weekend and thanks for the prayers, and healing vibes.

I just wanted to update everyone on what is happening with Tom. They did find 4 tumors in his brain which is why he is having seizures, so they started radiation last week. They also did a PET scan (a whole body scan with radioactive dye) last week and found out he has cancer in his bones also-actually he has a tumor in his hip which has eaten away the ball of his hip, so he now needs a hip relacement. They are going to start chemo next week to see if they can shrink any of the tumors. The scan also showed that the cancer is in his pancreas, we already knew it was in his liver and lung-I thought it would be the pancreas too since they are so close-so now we know for sure. I am not too sure about all this stuff they want to do to him. If it were me I would just say never mind all the chemo and radiation and live whatever I had left of my life with my family close by. I know that probably sounds terrible but? Anyway, I just wanted to let everyone know what was going on and I will update as things come up. Thanks for all the support.

I totally understand and agree with what you are feeling...about how you would want to just live your life and not have all this extra stuff done. It almost seems that all this chemo, radiation, hip replacement, etc. seems unnecessary. I have worked in a nursing home for a long time, and when some of our residents reach the end of their life and are about to die, and things start going wrong, their doctors always want to cure cure cure and do all these meds and stuff...I just wish these people could die peacefully...so it is not terrible to think this way, I would want to spend the last days of my life with my family, and not in surgery or the hospital. I'm still thinking of Tom, his family, and you and hoping all goes well in these hard months ahead.
