Please help

Our 8 month old rescue pup just threw up dark (not bloody) liquid, small amount, coughing, foaming a little, then became very quiet. Any ideas?

How long have you had your pup?
What do you feed him or her?
Any recent change in diet?
What specific dark color was this vomit?
Has s/he ever done this before?
Coule s/he have gotten into the garbage or anything else?
Does s/he have the sniffles or sneezing at all?
How long was s/he quiet?
Have you noticed any diarreah?
Is the pup's energy level normal lately?
Any other vomitting afterward?
Any recent shots or surgeries?
Any allergies that you know of?
