Please Help!

Guinness has been throwing up orangish/cream colored vomit. He'll be a year in one month He did it twice this afternoon so we didn't feed him dinner (he eats beneful and has been for a long time without any issues) He slept most of the night and has been going the bathroom normally... any ideas/help on what this might be?

Well for future reference I'd stop feeding him Beneful and upgrade the quality of his food, as what you feed is one of the worst quality foods on the market and I know there are colored portions to it so that may be part of what is contributing to the issue. I would encourage you to check out Dog Food Analysis - Reviews of kibble and choose a 4, 5 or 6 star food.

On what could be causing it is anybody's guess. Could just be a virus, could be a sensitivity to the food, could be an allergy to the food (yes they can seemingly come on overnight), could be that he got into something he shouldn't have gotten into, could be an obstruction, could be a more serious illness. If you fasted him tonight like you said and he still continues to vomit in the morning (regardless of if he eats or not) and/or he does not want to eat and/or drink then he needs to go to the vet immediately.

Could be anything really, I'd suggest making him some plain white rice and boiled chicken -- something very bland -- and offer it to him to eat... not too much at first since he has been sick. But I would definitely not withhold food altogether just because he's been sick.

If he eats the rice/chicken without any problems, continue to give him that for the next 24 hrs at mealtimes and slowly switch back to kibble. If he can't keep it down however, or if he won't eat at all, take him to the vet in the morning.

Thank you for the respones guys im going to give him the beneful for now because im all out of rice and i'lll pick up rice on my way to work today and feed it to him tonight. Also, for the next twenty four hours! I'll check back and keep you all posted! Again thank you, I love this website it's so helpful and the people on it are GREAT! =)

You can always do potatos or just plain chicken if you're out of rice. Dog food is VERY hard on the stomach and if he's not feeling well it coudl very well make him start vomiting again.

Hey guys he has sinced stopped throwing up we are feeding him rice and have switched his food from beneful to Grandma Mae's Country Naturals Puppy Belend! Again thank you guys so much for all your help and insightfulness!
