BrindleTyson

Boxer Pal
Hi everyone. I am new to the forum and already have had some great questions answered just by reviewing the board. My 14 week old "Tyson", Poor lil one, may i say seems to be suffering. I have to say he is an amazing pup within his 10 week birthday he was fully trained on "sit" and "no" but like all pups im still working on the house breaking side of it. I am doing the crate training and he is doing better but his health to me is not.

This is what i need help on. When i first bought the pup from an ordianry family with papers and wow were their parents gordeous. Flashy fawn mom and a brindle dad. Whats comes out my reverse Brindle Flashy Tyson. At first he had a bad case of diarhea,i began feeding him Science Diet Puppy canned and seemed to work on thickening his stool. I also recieved a hi vite drops to give to the dog twice a day. Within two weeks he was doing better. I ran into the problem of him going to the bathrooom in his cage and still does that is my only negative about his training. anyways, about 2 weeks ago he developed a small cough which began to get worse (assuming it was KC) i made an appointment with the vet and he was booked for about 5 days later. In the mean time my dog began to develop small pimples like all over his body. Then is when i started searching online to see what it could be. On this forum there was a thread that talked about how bad corn meal and fillers can be for a dog. Science Diet is horrible!!! Allergies begin to occur and other digestive problems. So i switched him over to Nutro Ultra Natural Pup. Hes been scratching uncontrllably. I took him to the vet for his 2nd vacc. and they did some blood work. It comes to be he has a bit of anemia and he said that the dots were nothing and they were just natural puppy things. They sent me to give him Clavamox and Hi vite drops. Ive been on them for about a week now and man is he getting bad. Tomorrow i am taking him first thing in the morning to emergency. His dots have him covered from nose to tail. He has a florescent mucus from his nose and his cough is amazing. I just cant believe that after his shots and going to the vet his health would deteriate so badly. Please someone help me with my situation Im extremely concerned for my lil guy. Thank You.

I think you should get your pup to another vet asap (an emergency vet, if no other is available). At very least he has a nasty case of KC, but at worst it could be something like parvo-virus. Both can be life threatening for a puppy that young, but can't be diagnosed online - he needs to see a vet.

I did take him to the vet. They it was nothing. Can there be adverse reactions to teh second vacc. Im really worried about him. I think im gonna pick up now and run to the Emergency.

Go now

Yes, go - the key is a different vet - not passing judgment on first vet - you just need to make sure. You could end up regreting not going, but in all liklihood you won't regret it if you do go. Better safe than sorry. Now get your keys, get your dog, get going and let us know. V

Well, Last night I took the lil guy to the Emergency vet. I recieved good and bad news. More Bad than good. First off, they did a scraping of his back and head and its The Mange (Demodex) so that was the first thing. Then they took blood and stool samples. Well, Lets just say they kept him overnight and now tonight too. They are testing him for "DISTEMPER". Scarry!! Im real worried about him. As of right now 10:30 pm he is being diagnosed with a serious and severe upper respitory infection and cant rule out DISTEMPER. Results in tommorrow. As of right now estimated hospitlization bill. $1,023. WOW! As we all should say for all our buddies. "Whatever it takes!" Thank You for the advice to my post yesterday. The Doc says it was the best thing to bring him immediatly. Pray for him!!

Oh good news is. The vet says hes one of the sweetest pups in his 25 years of being a vet and hes eating very well !! Hes a cute one.

P.s If anyone can give me some assurance on DISTEMPER or some feedback on the fight against this virus. Would be great!

So glad you got Tyson in and that at a minimum you know what the problem is. Now you can work out a plan with your vet to take good care him. You should do a search on demodex (mange) there's lots of great information here. As for distemper, you may find some info here as well. Most of all research, research, research (internet is a great tool). It's important to feel in control of your puppy's care and ask the right questions. Tons of healing vibes going your way. Keep us posted.
