A thread was recently posted in the Boxer Ring asking for suggestions for winter exercise. Here's the link...

I live in New Hampshire where it gets very cold as well. To keep Riley's boredom down, I just play with him and play with him some more. We go outside for short sessions and then we play some more inside. No, I don't play with 100% of the time that we're inside, because I've got stuff that I have to do, but most of the time I'm entertaining him.
Here are some of the things that I do when it's to cold to go for walks or play outside...
- I have wrestling matches with him. Riley really enjoys a good wrestling match, as I do to. Our matches usually go on for about about a half hour before one of us gets tuckered out. I actually just got done a good match with him and he's currently snoozing up on the couch.
- Play hide n' seek. Playing this game will also help teach a few commands (sit or down, stay, come). Basically just put her in a stay position and go hide. Once you're hidden, call her to you. If you plan to hide in a tough spot to find, bring a squeek toy so you can squeek it when she gets "cold".
- Hide treats or toys around the house. This will teach her how to use her nose and to find things. I would keep track of how many and where you put them though just to make sure she found them all.
- If you don't have time or if you're to tired to play games, offer her a bone to knaw on. Riley gets the occassional soup bone and this keeps him occupied for at least an hour!! In that time, I'm free to do some housework or something else that I want to do. He also enjoys Jumbones, but those only last about a half hour. I've also heard that knawing on bones burns energy as well.
Just be creative and keep things fun and interesting for her.
