Tish, have you considered consulting a Holistic Vet? If you are interested this site may help you find someone http://www.altvetmed.com/ahvmadir.html It must be so difficult for you and Chelsea at the moment :( A holistic practitioner will help deal with all of Chelsea's problems as well as boosting her immune system and most will take into consideration traditional veterinary treatments as well. I have heard excellent reports on Veterinary NAET (Nambudripad Allergy Elimination Technique - http://www.vetnaet.com/about.html ) and that may be worth considering. FYI- A BARF diet may help deal with food allergies but not inhaled allergies which is what your dog has. Basically he suffers from doggie hayfever and it is not dietary.
Brutus also has allergies and is on medication. I also have antihistamine spray which I use on his paws to relieve some itching. If I was you I would go for the shots.
I personally am a believer in modern medicine and science. People with hayfever get shots...it may have some side affects but it is better than living in pain. IMO it is the same with dogs. All medications including tylenol and asprin can cause one thing or another but we all use them.

My lab mix has been on several foods before we found Solid Gold. It has stopped them and she loves the food.
If the food changes you've tried had no affect on the symptoms and the tests your vet performed showed that your dog was allergic to trees and grasses and other things in the enviornment, I don't see how a Barf diet will be a solution to your problem - eating chicken necks is not going to change the way that the grass grows. Some allergies just can't be helped in that manner. My brother is allergic to dust and mold - nothing that he eats will change that.
I think you might need to do further research to determine if the treatments will help, what their side effects are and what a Barf diet will do for a dog with enviornmental vs. food allergies. I know when I have to deal with a medical problem, it is only when I have all of the information from many different points of view that I feel I'm ready to make an informed decision about what the best course of action will be.
