We live in the south of USA and while we would not abandon our pups just as we would not abandon our children, THERE WILL BE HOARDS OF ABANDONED PETS IN THE WAKE OF HURRICANE KATRINA. If you are able to adopt from a rescue please do. Our own boxers are rescues and they are the best dogs we have EVER had. Some of our local rescue organizations are -Boxer Aid and Rescue Coilition (BARC)-, Boxertown -and -Florida Boxer Rescue-Please if you can help, RESCUE!! God Bless

Boxer Rescue near Birmingham AL

I live near B'ham and would love to help out. Do you know of any rescues that are taking in storm victims?

I wish I could. My heart goes out to all those orphaned boxers and other animals. I hope they all find homes.

I feel so bad for these poor dogs. If I wasn't all the way in Pennsylvania I would take in one of these poor abandoned babies.

I live in Arkansas & am close to Louisiana & Mississippi. We are getting so many of the evacuees here, but I can't stop thinking about the pets. I'm here and ready to help transport or rescue. Just respond on the message board.

We are not representatives of any of the organizations I mentioned, but have adopted from 2 of them. I am sure they will ALL be taking in dogs in the coming weeks. I am not sure if the rules allow me to give web adresses here but if you Google BARC Florida (Boxer Aid and Rescue Coalition). Boxertown Florida, or Florida Boxer Rescue you will find them

Hi!
YOU CANNOT POST PERSONAL INFORMATION ON THIS BOARD is in need of teams of people who have air conditioned vechicles or cattle/horse trailers that can help transport homeless dogs when needed. If you are still interested send her an email.

*I'm sorry but you are removed. You cannot post personal information on this board and have done so more than once and have been warned not to do it already. As much as everyeone wants to help there are plenty of ways people can get the information needed without it being posted here. Board rules are to be followed, the end.*

Rocking P Rescue in Alabama is another boxer rescue you might want to look at. Also, I have heard that some of the local shelters here in the Atlanta area as well as Alabama, Florida, and Tennessee will possibly be taking in some of the overflow from shelters closer to the Katrina area. There are going to be so many dogs and rescues needing help for basically everything for both short and long term periods here in the south both foster and forever homes.

All the way up here in Michigan I've felt a little helpless. However, I just found out last week that the Mid Michigan Boxer Rescue is supposed to get some storm victims and I have submitted my application to be a foster home for them. A site has been setup called caninecatastophe.org that lists rescue organizations that will be getting some of the rescued animals. Moderators, I sincerely hope that it's ok for me to post that site, if not, I'm very sorry and won't do it again. If any of you in a far away state like me would like to help it may be worthwhile to check out that site to a rescue in your state is helping out.
