Boxer Buddy
I am soooo upset right now. A family member has adopted a rescued boxer. My problem is that they have no fence, live near a country road where cars speed by and have lost 4 dogs in the last year or 2 to injuries from cars. Now this beautiful boxer soul is living in the backyard, still no fence and they 'may let her in the house if the weather is bad' but it was near freezing last night and she was outside by herself. My heart is aching for this little girl, i love my family but i just can't stand to see this happen again. Please help me find a way to reach them so they understand. They call her an addition to the family because they missed having a dog for a doorbell, but how is that a member of the family if they have to stay outside?
Crying tears for this baby,
Nicole

Who did they adopt the boxer from? Call them and tell them the new owners are keeping the dog outside. They may have contract stipulations against that.

I would just be straight forward with them...if they didn't listen, I would take another approach by either calling the local SPCA and/or law enforcement. I know where we live, there is a leash law. Also, if a dog is outdoors....you must have food, water, and now an insulated shelter available for all dogs. Our local SPCA makes people come into compliance or they get fined. I wouldn't want to go the "tuff love" route but I would if they weren't listening to my concerns and it could possibly mean a boxers life. I am a law enforcement officer and it makes me sick how people treat other living beings. Good luck!

That makes me so sad...not just for the poor Boxer but for the position it puts you in. I agree though with Lisa H, to heck with hurt feelings, someone needs to speak for that poor dog. Good luck and please let us know what happens.

I have a neighbor like this!

I watched my neighbor starve and leave this blind/deaf pit bull outside. I watched for a couple days for food and water they never came back home through out the weekend never had anyone feed or water it. I finally fed him and watered him and waited. they came back I drove by seen he hadn't been fed his water was the same that I left him. he had crappy shelter thats all he had after a few days of watching and feeding the dog I got tired of it and called the pound. Finally the pound came and picked up the dog. Guess what 2 weeks later another white pit bull maybe white boxer it was fat when they got it, same conditions same things going on. I left a note telling them that I was watching them and I would be informing the authorities over this the dog deserved better then they were giving it. I told the maintenance man he said well they are poor I said not my problem they shouldn't own a dog then. He told me he would speak to the landlord.I checked on him tonight hes getting skinny, sad baby and I'm calling the pound tomorrow the policy though is I can not feed or water the dog when the pound is investigating they want to see the dog get skinny for themselves. So isn't that a shame. I think you should contact the local SPCA and like one of them mentioned call the person who adopted the girl to them. I had a clause on mine that he was to be inside only.

I would makes calls to everybody and anybody that would listen and help. I would start with the rescue where they got the dog from to see if they could take the dog back. If they can great...my next call would be to every area rescue and shelter to let them know exactly what kind of people they are and just how they "taking care" of animals. I would do everything I could to see that they were NEVER able to rescue another animal.
This makes me SO angry.
I am a police officer as well and I can take a lot but when it comes to people mistreating animals I have a problem with that.

Nicole...you are an angelicon for being the voice of this poor baby in a time when someone needs to. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for caring enough to be that voice.

OMG I live in Tucson Arizona and my dogs are in the house at 7pm ( all 4 of them)
I am sorry but these people do not deserve a dog. You need to make that dreaded call and help this poor puppy before it is to late.
I am sorry they have put you in the position.
