Hi! i am new to this forum, mostly because I am new to Boxers! My fiance and I researched for months before deciding on our new puppy spense! He is eight weeks and a trial, but a joy! My only concern is my cat, who is only 1 year. My fiance and I will not live together until after the wedding (another year) but we want to socialize the kids now so that they can get used to eachother instead of just throwing them together. SO far they have had a few supervised "play dates" and they improve each time, spense is learning that the cat is not a chew toy and the cat knows she can run away, or bop him in the nose (she is declawed!). SO my question is...am I doing this right? Are there different or better ways to socialize them? Is there a special trick or should we just keep doing what we are doing?
Thanks!

Sounds like you should keep doing what you are doing.
The only problem I can see is- if they aren't together on a daily basis the puppy may still chase the cat a year from now.
I thought we had Jack used to our rabbits (when he was little) now he thinks he's a coon hound.

Congrat's on your new pup and welcome to BW.
What's your puppies name? and does he live with you or your fiance?

Welcome

Welcome to Boxer World. I just love the name Spense for a dog. So cute.:)

Have you thought about moving the kitty early so they are together 24/7? The kitty doesn't have to wait for the wedding like Mom and Dad do.

Congratulations on your upcoming marriage and having a boxer!
oh and the kitty too.
