Completely Boxer Crazy
I'm afraid I have heard of this mix (Bull Boxer). What always concerns me is that breeders sell mixes to people and act as though they are purebreds. I'll bet lots of people with Labradoodles and Goldenpoos actually think they have purebred dogs.

I have a mixed breed dog myself (big black fluffy dog) and I think he's the greatest. So I'm not a breed snob but I do feel bad for these Bull Boxers because when they end up in shelters, Boxer Rescues can't take them because they are really hard to place. (Many homeowner's policies prohibit Pit Bulls or any mix thereof - people are just very wary about adopting them.) And it's not like the shelters aren't already full of Pits as it is.

On the other hand, I have seen lots of purebred Boxers (many with papers) that just had poor conformation.

I adore my Tucker. He's not what I consider typical boxer personality but he was only about 45 pounds when he came to us last August. He's 75 pounds now and STILL looks kind of gangly on a massive scale. THAT kind of neglect would shape him a lot more than any genetic predispositions. He's ours forever and we're glad he is whoever and whatever he is. (But I wish he wouldn't chew electrical cords.) What bothers me most is WHY would somebody deliberately cross these two breeds -- boxer and pit bull -- and what do they intend to do with the pup? If Tucker's condition was any indication, he wasn't born to be an in-the-house lovable family pet. I got a digital camera for Christmas but I don't know how to get the photos from the camera into my computer and then to get them on to this web site. I'd love to show you his photo. He's really, really cute and I'm proud of him exactly the way he is.

It's funny this subject was brought up - when we first got Baron people kept asking us what kind of Boxer we got. I didn't understand what they meant - isn't a Boxer a Boxer? They would explain that there were the taller, more sleek Boxers and there were the shorter, stockier Boxers - Now I understand they must have been thinking of one of these newly created "breeds" (mixes) of Boxer.

We think my sister in law's dog is a pitbull X boxer. My husband has been around boxers all of his life and he says there is no way she is full boxer. When she went to look at the puppies, they would not let her see the mom and dad--big red flag to me right there, but she bought one anyway. She is different in build and temperament from our two boxers. She's not had the best life and unfortunately I think that has contributed to her "disposition" to some extent. There is a picture of her in my gallery where she is looking out our front door with our 2 boxers waiting for the pizza man. She is the one on the right. Paula

I have not heard much on this "new breed". But I had a dog that was part pitt and boxer. He was not purposely breed that way. I recieved him from my cousin when her boxer had pups. The neighbors pitt had snuck under the fence. He was a cute puppy and more beautiful when he grew up. He was not aggressive and I still think of him as we had to give him to someone who would be home more. He needed like 200% attention. He would become destructive when left home alone. I still visit him and his new family love him, getting him groomed every 2 weeks. He lives on a farm now, he has the run of the land during the day. I am so glad he is happy. When I see him i can't believe how stunningly gorgeous he turned out. When we walked him we got so many compliments on how he looked. Some peopl would say wow thats a pretty boxer. And then some would say wow he is a beautiful pitt. lol We would just say thanks and go on. I will post a pic of him in my gallery under the name Samson.

my foster is a boxer pitt mix. He is the cutest thing ever. He was a stray so I dont think anyone intentioonally bred him either. I hope that that was a phase that people went through with breeding pis and boxers. I think that each are beautiful and should be pure to their breeds, no mixing is nedded!
I will post a pic in my gallery if I can figure out how.

Dutchvrouw-
The bigger than a boxer part reminds me of the American bulldog, boxer mixes we have seen in the rescue. They are absolutely stunning! They look like boxers, but have a little larger heads, more muscle and are taller! It is so cute to see them boxer wiggle!! I would love to see a pic:)

Well I would hope that this isnt a new crazy. I find pitt bull sincredably aggessive and scary.

The boxer, laid back and adoreable would not go well with a pitt bull. Scary!

I really need to sit down with the instruction manual and learn how to use my new digital camera and get the photos into the computer and online. Tucker's a good looking dog but he doesn't do the boxer wiggle. His tail wags slowly even when he's wonderfully excited and happy. He doesn't do helicopters like our other boxers. Again, I want to emphasize that I love him dearly and he'll be with us until one of us crosses the bridge. (Somedays I think he's going to send me across first. LOL)

Super Boxer
I think a lot of people who are uninformed, purchase dogs from pet stores and BYB's that look like Boxers, but really are mixed with something, whether the actual pup is a max, or one of its parents is a mix. An example is us, we bought Harlie from a pet store, not really knowing much about Boxers. I really think she has more Pit in her than Boxer, and you can definatley tell by looking at her face that she isnt a full Boxer, unless her parents were extremley poor examples of the breed, which is possible too I guess.

I would like to say, though, that just because these dogs might have Pit in them, doesnt make them bad dogs. Pits, as any breed of dog, can potentially be a wonderful, loving dog.

Harlie is a major lover now, she used to be a little weary of people she didnt know coming into the house, but she has grown out of that stage, and now she is fine within minutes of someone coming over. She is a great dog too, no matter what she looks like.

My Elmo is purebred AKC and both parents were on site when we got him. Both parents were obviously boxers but not breeding quality. The result, some of the litter looked like typical boxer puppies and three came out with longer muzzles. Ofcourse the typical looking ones sold first and the longer muzzled ones were left when we went to see them.

Needless to say, we had Elmo neutered so that he doesn't pass his faults. He is a wonderful pet and is loved and coddled to death.
