Hi to all the boxer owners out there an althougt its not the new year yet happy new year. I have a 6mth old male fawn boxer and my girlfriend has a 1&1/2 yr old male staffordshire terrier (pitbull)who is a rescue dog. Bixler the pit keeps attacking Mojo ever time they are in the yard playing. Before it was not happening as frequent when they would play at her mother's house along with a 9mth old female border collie, but now that they are alone in another house without the border collie (all dogs are fixed) Bixler attackes are so frequent.
The last fight Mojo ended up with blood drawn and cut on his leg. they can't be left alone any more to play and it has even come down to the point where we don't even want them to play aggressively any game like tug-of -war with there stuff animals. What's going on here, is this a dominance issue, and if so should they be seperated and for how long? Mojo is so playful that he goes right back to playing even after he is attacked but I am worried about his confidence level given that he already has confidence issues. At the dog park he would stick to my side instead of initiating play, but sometime if another dog initiates then he's off an running. He has the most gently disposition and everything written about a boxer I see it in stages with him. We currently have the book the Dog Listener which we are still reading but any advice would be appreciated.
From what I have read from other responses I should let them settle it but Mojo dosen't seemto be able to defend himself. I may sound over protective but he's only 6mths vs a 1&1/2 yrs old rescue pit. he is my only baby and i would hate for anything happen to him that would require a visit to the animal hospital.
