Just looked at my Boxer Bailey and saw that he had pink puffy-ness around one of his eyes. Looks like someone punched him right in the eye. Not sure if he slept on it wrong or he ran into something when I was not looking. I also noticed a very small bump on his head about 2 inches above his eye. Not sure what this is. Not sure if they are related or not.

Anyone have any experience with these symptoms? Any thoughts? I will keep an eye on it for the rest of the day. May be nothing at all but weird that this just suddenly appeared.

Thanks
Dean

Sounds like it could be a spider bite (or some other insect). Keep an eye on it, because sometimes the throat can swell or they can have an anaphlytactic reaction. If it looks like it's getting worse, you could give some benadryl (1 mg per lb body weight) - but call the vet before you do.

I had to take Sadie to the vet a couple weeks ago, her eye was red and her eyelid was droopy, she also had alot of "eye boogers". The vet looked at it and said it didnt look like there was anything in it, and that dogs have that second eyelid, I forgot what she called it, but that it was irritated, we got some eye ointment and now its fine.

Maybe its just a cold or something....

Follow Up

I took him to the vet and got some eye ointment as well. Also got some pills to take orally. I have had so many health problems with my Boxer lately that maybe I have gotten too paranoid. So, hopefully the puffyness will disappear with time. May not be nothing more than inflamation or irratation.

Thanks for the replies.

More

The puffy eyes got somewhat better, but they still look a little bothered. I also noticed another random whelp this morning. This spot is on his back leg. I am thinking he is allergic to something.

The only change in his life has been new food. We are currently mixing the last of his Science ID with Science Sensitive Stomach after his bout with pancreatitis. I mentioned this possibility to the vet and he did not think much of it.

So, I guess I will continue to monitor the situation until either it stops or we can figure out if it could be the food.

Thanks

I know what you mean by the paranoia....eerythime Sadie whimpers or breathes funny I FREAK OUT....I am always imagining something is wrong with her...Her daddy tells me I am a hypochondriac....I know I spelled that wrong. Poor pup!

Hope the eyes are better, you are right, it could be an allergy..
