well i am lucky to know this breeder. he is a reputible breeder ( he is a member of our all breed club, and health tests the parents, and gives a guarantee: expecially to me) but also a friend of my family and so i have been going to his house to see the puppies grow. they are all soo cute and loving. i look forward to seeing them all the time. i am so addicted it is going to be hard to pick just one. i think i might be in trouble, hahaha . i thought that a female would be better since i already have a male dog at home but i have fallen hard for two males. i think it will be ok since it is a puppy i will be bringing home and my first dog (polo) is a loving dog i think he will see it as a chance to be a dad. what do you think? is it a good idea since it is a puppy?

Male/Female is usually best, but male/male shouldn't be a problem. Female/female is not recommended. Having a male already, you should be okay either way.

We had a 5 year old male when we rescued another 5 year old male and they got along fine. We had a few little scuffles concerning treats but other than that they got along great. They got to be close friends.

We have an eight year old male in the house, so I was going to get a female pup. Looked at them and the male jumped at me, and I fell in love with him. I'll bring him home next Friday, so I hope they will be okay together. If not, they'll learn to. Don't worry about the sex, pick the one you like and think is meant to be yours. Good luck pickin'!:)

The only issue we're having currently is that Raiden isn't neutered yet...that's coming September 26th. So b/c of this, Colby tries to hump him and vice versa. I'm sure that will slow down or stop altogether once Raiden is neutered.

Nicole my two are doing the same! I haven't had Diesel neutered because of his D-mange spot form a long time ago, remember? It finally is getting better and I just got the ok to have him snipped in Oct. But Dozer who has been neutered for 6 months has now started humping! I guess it's a power struggle thing! LOL! Soon it will be handled! ;)

So after that I guess you realize I have 2 boys. LOL! Ages 10 months and 7 months. I have had no problems other than mentioned above. It is important to have the two neutered to avoid those type problems and really no fighting should start until the are about 2 years old or so if they are both fixed it should be fine. ;) My older boy was kind of submissive so my younger one is more a dominant type and it works out fine. It might be helpful if you know what your older boys personality is and try and pick a boy opposite like we did so there is no fights over the Alpha position because that should be your place anyway. :) Good luck picking a pup!

I've been told if the two males grow up together they should get along fine. I had a problem with a rescue I had and my intact male (he was show dog at the time, so he wasn't neutered then). The rescue was 4 years old when we brought him home and my intact male was 2 years old. The two got along for the most part but then one day all --- broke loose and they started to fight. They did not draw blood or have any injuries (thank goodness). But from that time on they couldn't be together. If they were, it was very tense. The dog language/tension could be cut with a knife!!!

At the same time we had the rescue I also had a nuetered male, spayed female and unspayed female (show dog as well). They all got along together except those two males. One had to be crated while the other male was with the rest of the "pack." On the same note the two females get along famously. They are now both spayed but the one wasn't for some time since she was being shown. They sleep together but they are both not dominant girls. The rescue died of lymphosarcoma. I still have the other four dogs (2 males and 2 females). They get along great, just have to watch them with toys and such but otherwise they are a peaceful pack. The two males are littermates. So I tend to agree with having them grow up together, they will get along. You are introducing a young puppy not an older dog like I did with the rescue.

Oh, one more thing, the one thing we don't allow in my house is humping. It is a dominance thing amoung dogs and I think that is just asking for trouble. The dog on the bottom might not like being dominated and react. So we have a no hump policy in this house ;) So far it has worked. The dogs need to know we are alpha!

Good luck with your decision!

From what I've heard male/male is o.k. Male/female is great. So you should be good either way. Good luck with your new puppy. :D
