:D Congratualations!! Like you and a lot of the others, my furbaby was so cute and cuddley to sleep with at 7 weeks I just couldn't resist, but now at 90 lbs things aren't so comfortable. We also are picking up our new king-sized bed today so that we ALL have enough room! Good luck with training! :p

Congratulations!!!

YEAH on the new pup. Your excitement is evident in your post and is contagious!

My experience with the bed thing is a little different. We did let our pup sleep with us in bed for his first 2 weeks. In that time period, I got him acclimated to his new surroundings and used to his crate. To this day, he has never complained when asked to go into it. I don't know, it could be that every time we ask him to go into it, he gets a yummy treat! :p In any case, after 2 weeks, we moved the crate into our room and put him in there. He only whimpered a couple of times the first night and since then, we move the crate every night into our room and he sleeps without a peep.

This is probably not the recommended way to do things, but thought I'd share a different point of view that worked for us.
Good luck with your new puppy and congratulations again!

partyicon I remember only too well, it was such a wonderful time and they grow up so fast! Sunny cried at night too it took me a couple of nights to slowly a very positively introduce the crate to her. I would say quite down. But she was in her crate right by my bed and still is. She loves in there! I like it too because I know she is safe. If we had a fire or Earthquake the rescue workers can grab her crate and save her life. However if she is loose a Dog will get itself killed by hiding under a bed and nobody can get them out. In the long run a crate is the safest way. Also when we go out of town She is so glad we brought her crate. It helps her to get settled faster. We do let her on the bed for a while some nights depending on how tired we are and then say get in your kennel and she jumps off the bed and I give her a treat. It's very cool.
Watching your family grow is a wonderful thing.
