I am so excited. I pick up my Brindle puppy on Saturday, (Lord Willing.) He will be 8 weeks!!! What do I need to have ready for him. Here is what I know I need so far:

Food
Food/Water Bowls: Stainless?
Large crate with a divider
Bed
Leash: What kind?
Collar: What kind?
Chew Toys: What kind?

Am I missing anything??? I can't think straight!

Thanks!

I would get a nice soft puppy type collar with a quick release buckle and a six foot leash.

You might want to read "Before you Get Your Puppy" by Ian Dunbar. You can download it for free from www.openpaw.com

Good luck with your pup!

Lots and lots of paper towels. :)

LOL-take a towel you can get the mothers scent on so the pup will have something familiar around
get a little bit of food the breeder is using if you plan on changing foods
Paper towels
baby wipes(easier than trying to wash the pup everytime there is a clean up needed)
teething toy(i use a freezable nylabone)
chew toys-Kong makes some great toys for young teething pups.I also have a couple of soft fuzzy type toys

Thank you!

Are you driving? How far? Longer trips require many potty stops. Are you going by yourself? Is your baby on kibble or raw? If raw do you have the same food as your breeder? Have you talked with your vet and does he(she) have any advice?

I am driving, it takes about 30-40 minutes with other people. The baby is on kibble. I am working on the first vet appointment and his name is: Hank 'the Tank'.

Thank you everyone!

Man I am so jealous. Seems like everyone is getting a puppy. I want one!!!! I love the name Hank too. I think you have some great suggestions for things you'll need and you already had a good list to start with but don't forget the #1 must have item....THE CAMERA!!!!!

I borrowed a smaller crate from my friend for the first few weeks, it worked well before we moved to a bigger one and was easy to move around the house while crate training.
