Petco Classes?

We are adopting a one year old boxer. She can sit and shake (kind of) but I want to get started with obedience classes as soon as possible. Prices range from $60 - $250 depending on where you go. The strange thing is, every class claims to teach your dog the same thing. Has anyone tried the classes at Petco?

I've done puppy classes at Petco. I actually really like our trainer. She has a lot of good tips. Puppy class is more about socialization than anything else though. Unfortunately I don't have experience w/ obedience classes there yet since we are finishing puppy class next week. Meet w/ the trainer and see what you think of his/her techniques. I think any form of training is better than nothing.

We went to Petsmart for an 8 week class.. I liked it ..mainly went for the socialization but I will say she did learn several things. They taught us more how to work with her. We also had another boxer in class which was great. Abigail had a ball playing with him during play time. The cost was 89.00 and it even came with a free nail trim which she wasn't too fond of. I agree that any type of obedience classes are a must they learn so much. Sit, down, stay which is very important, walking "not pulling" on a leash, not jumping up on guest.

Our class was a clicker type which was different. When they did the trick you would use the clicker then give a treat. Once the trick was learned then you no longer used the clicker for that trick. The only problem I had was not having enough hands to click treat and hold the leash.. but it was fun for both of us..

Ive been thinking about doing one of the petco classes myself. Thanks for the great info about them.
