Chewy's Mom -
So, if Chewy gets a cold this year, and we claim a $20 office visit and $30 worth of meds, they'll cover it now, but wouldn't cover it again next year?
I don't believe they are talking about little things like colds. It is the major illnesses they don't want to shell out more than a year for. I checked into it & they would cover Caesar's lymphoma & Molly's BCM for 1 year and that was it because then you had to renew and it became a pre exising condition. For us it was irrelevant cause they were both already sick when we tried to get the insurance. Too bad too lymphoma is very costly!

AKC insurance?

Does anyone know anything about the new AKC pet insurance? It says that all clims are paid within 30 days and that even renewing every years, conditions that arise after your 1st term with them are NOT considered pre-existing. The only problem is that I can't find a lot of info about what EXACTLY is covered. Can anyone help or give a review?

Here is the link for anyone who is interested. http://www.petpartnersinc.com/

so at 9 they are no longer covered or you can't start coverage after 9?

I mean Mac is 1...if I start now, will it continue for the rest of his life, or cut off at 9?

If you start the coverage before the dog is 9 he/she is covered to the day they pass on. Unfortunatley most people (like myself) didn't realize we needed health insurance until our baby was 11 and got cancer. It's a similar concept to an elderly person trying to get health coverage.

It looks pretty good, actually. The coverage looks almost identical to PetHealth Care Plan. The deductible, and the 80/20 split, and the covered items are the same. It costs twice as much, though, and probably because they don't stop covering a certain illness after the renewal date.

Thanks for that link to the AKC plan....I had no idea it existed. I have PetsHealth for Jack and it is $13.92 a month...this one is $24...yea higher but to me it will be worth it since they will not stop paying for a serious condition after a year. I tried to download the app but could not. I work in Raleigh NC where it says to call and I will call them tomorrow and switch Jack to this plan. The PetsHeath plan we have charges more for a Boxer..anyone know if this one does? Even if they do it's probably only a couple of bucks. I just know how much we paid and paid and paid for Hannah's continuing illness and Yes, I would do it again but why.. if I can get good insurance to help out! Deb

WOW! I am glad that I've been reading these posts on insurance. I have about 3 brochures in front of me and they are still confusing. I have Pets Health, VPI, and Pet Care. Of course none of them have the fine print until after you apply for the insurance. I will also check out the akc insurance... thanks to everyone who keeps all of us posted on the latest trends with insurance and what works and doesn't quite work!

i THINK - though don't be mad if I am wrong - that Pet care is the AKC insurance...AkC teamed with some company to do it. The link is up above, and I am sure it will tell you. Can you give us any of the fine print on that one?
Thanks
