I disagree, I do think they resemble Boxers when they are young pups. NOt saying they look identical but they do resemble Pit's IMO. Of course I come to the conclusion I am the only one on this site that thinks so but I guess my parents, older brother, 2 closest friend also think they do too. How could we be so uneducated when it comes breeds? How ignorant of us.

I have seen my fair share of both Pit Pups and Boxers pups on rare occasion (poorly bred) I have seen one that looks like the other.

But my beef wasn't that he said she was a pitt, It was that he INSISTED he "knew a pit when he saw one" and then proceeded to argue w/me when I told him she was a boxer. If he "knew a it when he saw one" then he lead me to believe he's "educated" on what pit pups look like and would know right off when taking a closer look Echo was NOT a pitt. She has the gorilla look to her face, she's fawn w/black mask and in no way shape or form resembles a pit.

That aggrivates me so much when people do that. Like I said before, if someone says that about Sam I look at them and say, "No, he is not a pitt. He is an overgrown poodle," and I walk off.

Too funny, I would crack up if I heard somebody say that. Nobody has ever mistaken Titan for anything other than what he is, but if it happens in the future I'll do you proud and use your comeback!

Not long ago when I was walking Lisa a woman came up to us and said should that dog not be wearing a muzzel. And I asked why ?
Is that not a dangerous dog ? she asked.
No she is a boxer I replied.
Well she looks dangerous she said.
Well sorry but she is not !!!

I think because Lisa is a brindle and the majority of pitbulls have the same colouring (in this area anyway) she just presumed that Lisa was one.
I also get people crossing the street when they see me coming with Lisa.

I just ignore the ignorant people.

I understand and agree 100% with your gripe! My point is people on here act like they look NOTHING alike which is a bunch of sh** if you ask me. I'm not saying they look SOOO much alike that they are hard to distinguish, I am saying they do resemble each other a bit when they are younger and to the untrained eye or average person I can see how they do mix them up. It's not like we are comparing Dalmations to Boxers. But I do agree with the original poster and their frustration, people are ignorant but you can't say they are ignorant for not being able to tell the difference in breed is my point. Breed behavior is a whole other subject and I do agree Boxers get a bad rap when mixed up with Pit's.

I think she is simply saying it gets tiresome when people insist they are right, and refuse to even admit that perhaps they could be mistaken...

Buster's been mistaken for a number of breeds :
pittbull
mastiff (uhhhhhh...he's like 65 pounds!)
labrador (don't think I've ever seen a lab with red-fawn coloring...)
beagle (again...he's 65 pounds!)
and my favorite : 'oh! what a beautifull Baxter!'

It's ok to be wrong, but if you don't know about something, you shouldn't argue it. I'm not claiming I know everything, far from it, but when someone corrects me (unless I'm 100% sure I'm right) I don't argue it. It's my petpeeve when people argue something they know nothing about!

What you should have done is: Asked him to put his arm in the dog's mouth, if he cannot get his arm free, then he's right - it is a Pitt. :D

I wonder if he would've been up for that challenge?
