Has anyone's boxer baby wet the bed while they were sleeping?? The other morning I woke up to a wet spot on the bed. Now, our girl is 9 months and is very well potty-trained; she will let us know when she needs to go out. The spot was where she laid down when she crawled in bed next to me earlier in the morning. I'm a very light sleeper and am 100% positive that she did not wake up to go potty since I would have felt the bed move - she practically sleeps on top of me and she always does her boxer shake upon waking. Our best guesstimate is that she was dreaming when this occurred.

Just curious if anyone has ever had this happen to them.

Sigmund did this once in our bed and a few times in his crate. He didn't have a urinary tract infection so we concluded that he must have been dreaming when this happened. Like you, I am a light sleeper and Sigmund always (no matter what time) wakes me up to go outside. Wouldn't worry about it too much. But if it continues, you might want to get her checked for a UTI.

Take Care,
Jen

Thanks Jen, I didn't even consider the possibility of a UTI. How reassuring though that our girl is not the only dog who has done this. :p

Thanks again.

My "kid" wet the bed too!

When Diamond was about 6 months He and I were taking a nap, and what I woke up to was not a good feeling. You got it-warm on my leg. I tried to wake him up and he just wouldn't-just kept right on sleeping and peeing! :p I'm sure he was dreaming because he hasn't done it since. It was kinda gross at the time although after I finally woke him up I laughed. oh well, dogs will be dogs.

Nice to know He isn't the only one!:D :p :D

Me Too!!

Tegan began to pee during her sleep about 8 months ago, she was about 4 years old. The first time she did it we had her checked for UTI and it was negative. The problem persisted and eventually she was peeing her bed every night :( We took her back to the vet and we learned that she was incontinent (sp?) which means that her muscles had weakened and therefore when she releaxed (was aslepp) she could not control her bladder and she peed. She is now on medication - one pill once a weeek and everything is great. I have learned that this is common in spayed females due to the lower hormone levels.

Good luck!

Brando did this once about a month ago. My husband let him jump in the tub and drink straight from the spigot for like 2 minutes straight around 8 PM. Well, needless to say, that wasn't too bright. About two hours later, all that water had to go somewhere, so right on my bed it went. I'm sure he was just in such a deep sleep he couldn't rouse himself to go outside. He hasn't had an accident since, and he never had before. We limit his water intake after around 8 PM, and always make him go outside before bedtime. It's just an accident, and if they're not suffering from a UTI, it shouldn't happen, especially if you try the above mentioned tips. Good luck!
