The best thing you can do about this is to ignore it. This sort of behaviour actually arises from over-excitement, and the dog feeling intimidated. It is known as "submissive peeing".

The good news is that it is most common in puppies and adolescents (around your girl's age) - and just about every dog grows out of it.

If you know you have people coming over, then it is a good idea to take your pup outside shortly before they arrive to empty her bladder. Or if necessary, you could take her - without making any fuss about it - at the time they arrive.

Beyond that though, the best thing to do is to ignore the dog and ask your guests to also ignore the dog. Let her calm herself down before anyone takes any notice of her, and you're far less likely to have an accident. That sort of 'ignoring' will also help her to get over her excitement/fear faster, and grow out of the behaviour altogether.

I have a girl who is now 8.5 months and is getting much better, but in her younger months was terrible, when seeing new people. Ignoring is the way to go. Also tell anyone coming over to NOT say hi or try to make friends. Also they should not lean over her, as this is a dominant gesture.

As gmacleod said----Ignore her and don't even look her way. They do grow out of it, with a little time.

My female Roxy did that for years. We could not put a rug in our entry way because she would pee when we had visitors at the front door, mainly men, but sometimes women. What is odd is she did this until she was 7, when we got Buster. When he got a bit older, she quit doing it. I can't remember the last time she has done it now. I really don't know why getting him helped her with this problem, but it did. I had heard they outgrow it eventually, but honestly I wonder if she ever would have. noideaicon

 My girl is almost over it, but if the same one person comes to say hi, for some reason, she has to watch her toes, because they may get wet. My pup knows this person well, but the excitement is just too much.

Same here. She would do it no matter if she knew them or not. One way I found that helped was if someone came over, I told them to ignore her. Just walk right on by, don't speak to her or acknowledge her. That way it gave her a few minutes to calm down. She usually only did it when they stopped and greeted her, which made her more excited. You might try having them totally ignore her to see if that helps.

Rolen used to do this as a pup too, but I agree with the above posters, having people ignore him helped. He doesn't do it anymore, but this one time just about a month or so ago, my dad went with me to pick up Rolen from daycare and Rolen was so excited to see my dad he peed all over my dad's leg. I was so embarrassed, but thank goodness it was my dad! :)

My boy does the same thing.. he's 4 months old.. It seems to be getting better but we have noticed that the times he's been in a complete sit he doesn't pee. It'll either be me or the hubby and we actually bend down with him and he seems more relaxed to meet new people and isn't jumping all over the place (which is when the peeing usually happens).. Also like metioned we try to make sure he pees before the initial "meeting of the people".
