Phoebe is 12 weeks old, a few times, when we've had friends over, she gets so excited she cant contain herself and dribbles just a little. I had a cocker spaniel about 10 years ago and that dog was HORRIBLE about this, we had to put her in another room for at least 30 minutes to get her to calm down and then she still had accidents. Phoebe has only done this a couple times and it was very small amounts, however, if there is any way possible to get her to stop this, i would like to know what it is. are boxers bad about this? will she grow out of it? (my cocker never did)
thanks.

Tiger is now 10 months old, and he still does this. I have to make sure I take him out before our guests get here. That has been the only way for us to stop the 'excited peeing'. It is very embarrassing!!

Our last Boxer, Chester, had the same problem .... it's called 'submissive wetting'. We had to send him outside to greet certain guests, and when my husband came home from a road trip he had to say hello to Chester outside. I have no idea why some dogs do that and he continued until he died at 10 years old. Our current two have no similar problems at all.

My Maggie did this as a pup, but it ended after her spaying. It is called submissive urination and isn't all that uncommon. If you hit the search button here at Boxerworld, and type in key words "Submissive Urination" you will find many posts on this subject and many links to information sites which can give you info on this condition and ways to deal with it.

Good luck.

Have your guests and your husband crouch down when they meet Phoebe. If they are not towering over her so much she will not feel the need to act so submissively. She will grow out of it.

Brenin always did it. Our vet said that when he was neutered, (we lived in another town when we had Brenin as a puppy), the vet got a little too close to the nerve; I always had to warn visitors to mind their shoes. I don't know if that is the problem or not.

I had the same problem with Jagger, he would pee when ever anyone could come in the house. I found that if you don't make all over them and aproach calmly they do better. I have Jagger to the point were I make him sit down when people come in before he can be petted.

Cherokee does this. I get embarrassed if it's someone new but overall everyone knows my little girl so they don't care. i will check those sites out though and see what I can learn, thank you.
