I wasn't sure where to post this, so I decided on here.

Last night Leo and I were in the family room ... I was watching TV, he was sleeping on the floor.

All of the sudden I heard what I thought was water dripping, like a pipe had broken or there was some kind of a leak.

I jumped up, and Leo jumped up, and we both looked at the floor, and realized that he had peed!!!! We were BOTH surprised! The ONLY time he has EVER peed in the house is if we leve him without crating him (which we don't do anymore).

I didn't scold or punish him, as we were both in a state of shock as to why this happened? I was just wondering if any of your dogies have ever peed in their sleep? Do you think he had to go really bad but just didn't know it since he was sleeping?

I felt bad for him. You should have seen the look on his face. Poor baby. He was soooo upset. I just loved him and told him it was ok.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

xoxox,
Kristin and Leo.

How old is Leo? About a month ago our older boxer, Bailey who is 8 years old did this. After bringing it up to our vet she said that she might have been having a dream. Bailey has NEVER gone to the bathroom in our home since we got her when she was 5 years old so we knew she wasn't doing it to be bad. The vet told us to keep an eye on her and if she did it again then we may need to look into things further. It was a one time thing but we are certainly keeping an eye on it. :)

My Susie does this if she has been exercised and is very tired. She'll drink lots of water when we come home the plop down and fall asleep -- a deep sleep evidently as she doesn't even wake when I get up and move around. And then sometimes, if I don't wake her up, she'll pee in her sleep. She doesn't even wake up unless it gets her wet.

I too don't get upset as she seems not to be able to control this in any way and she didn't do it on purpose. I just take her out and let her finish. What I have been doing now is making sure after exercise we do a long, slow walk, cooling down somewhat before we come home so she won't drink as much water, and make sure I wake her up every hour after that for the next two hours and take her out. No problems since I've been doing this.

Good luck.

Powder has done this once in the middle of the night. My wife had the misfortune of stepping in it. As with Suzie, it was after a long walk and the little baby was tired.

My boxer, Sundance, is 1 year, 4 months old and he has leaked occasionally while sleeping. My regular vet did blood work and an urinalysis and everything was fine. He suggested that, like young children, Sundance just was too comfortable to wake up to go outside and I should take him out more frequently before bedtime. Problem solved! I also mentioned this problem to a different vet without telling her what my regular vet said. Well, she suggested the same scenario. I must point out his leaking has only happened since it has become hot outside and he is drinking more water.
