Parsley for UTI side effects

I was over on another BB. Someone had a dog with a UTI. I suggested parsley because I've seen it mentioned here before. Someone came back with a comment that parsley is a abortion trigger in pregnant woman so they would never give it to a breeding dog. Said it was something that they'd just learned. I've never heard that parsley was harmful to woman or dogs so this is a bit of a shocker. I must say that I've never seen it mentioned here before but I'm new to posting here so maybe it was and I didn't see it. I'd hate to recommend something that may be harmful without my knowledge. Anyone heard of this side effect. I'm not worried about the recommendation to this dog as it is not a breeding dog.

Only because I googled it.....I found out that parsley is not good for pregnant women. Something about the oil in the leave being a uterine stimilant. But, I have yet to read the same information regarding dogs. Of course, I didn't even know about it until you mentioned it and I looked it up...LOL And, I didn't realize that it would be good for a UTI.

I would love to see the input from everyone here. Since Orion is a boy, this would be a topic not coming up in our house :)

I don't think parsley will actually help a UTI - it is a natural diuretic and useful for incontinence. But I have no idea how it's going to help a bladder or urinary tract infection. It is more commonly probiotics and/or cranberry extract that can be helpful for UTIs (though that's in prevention, not in cure).

All cures, natural or otherwise, come with stipulations and shouldn't be recommended without consideration of those. Yes, parsley is a herb that is one of many substances that shouldn't be consumed during pregnancy. It shouldn't be consumed by those with renal problems either. To the best of my knowledge, it has never been recommended on this board in either situation.
