Our Hannah was not yet 4 when she passed away from a heart attack on Friday, June 29. We always knew she would probably go this way because she had a Sub-Valvular Aortic Stenosis. We thought we were managing her disorder pretty well with a cardiologist and regular medication but she collasped without warning Friday morning. My husband and daughter did CPR and rushed her to the vet (3 minutes away) where they tried everything they could. She died listening to my husband and daughter saying kind things to her. At least she did not die alone. OUr vet kept her for me so I could say goodbye that afternoon. It was so hard.

Unfortunately, my family left that morning to go on vacation so it's just me and our other dog here. Ginger (a shar-pei) is very depressed and will not drink. She will only eat if I give her treats. I bought her her favorite busy bone today. For awhile she was happy but then she dropped it, ran around the house looking for something, and then settled herself in by the front door. I am hoping that our friend Matt will be able to help her when he comes to visit this afternoon. Ginger loves him as my as she does my husband.

I think I will have to change my login name now.

Oh I am so terribly sorry to hear about Hannah. Just two months ago I lost Snubby to a heart attack at age 7 (I had only had her for 9 months), she had BCM. It was so sudden and I had a terrible time dealing with it. We too saw the cardiologist and thought the meds were keeping things under control.

They are both up there now, at the bridge, running and playing like there is no tomorrow. They never have to worry about their hearts again.

I hope that soon sadness turns into laughter at all the memories Hannah has left you with. I will be thinking of you and your family.

So sorry to hear about little Hannah! I lost my Scooby a week ago and we too have a second dog. Our little Sadie was and might still be depressed over Scooby girl. She didn't eat, I had to give her treats too. She is just now starting to come around, but still sad. Give your other baby lots of love and know that your Hannah is playing with my Scooby Girl and all the other boxer angels! Don't change your screen name, it's a wonderful tribute to your girl. God Bless you and your family!

I'm so sorry for your loss. It is soooo hard to lose our babies. When we had to put Bacci down (DM) last Oct. I went to the store and got a very nice journal and I started writing in it. Everything started with I remember...... and I listed all the things that I could remember about her and the things she had done in her life. She was 10 1/2 when she passed. I left this journal on the coffee table for about a month. People would come over and see it and then they too would add something. I just went through it the other day. Of course the tears were running down my face but I was also smiling. It helped me alot to get through the days. I miss her so.
