Hello everyone...I rejoined Boxerworld today because our beloved Boxer Brutus, passed away last night. I need this forum to help with the grief my husband and I are feeling.
Brutus was just shy of 8 years old. He was a black masked fawn with the natural ears. Brutus has been sick since we moved here to California in April and has been under vet care...in fact, he was diagnosed with irleykia (sp) this past Friday, and has been on medication since last weekend. The vet said his disease could be treated with medication. Then yesterday, out of the blue, Brutus had two seizures...the second he didn't recover from. I drove him to the pet ER and just as I had parked the car, the vet tech were waiting and took Brutus in...it was at that time he took his last breath...which I saw...they resuscitated him for 15 minutes, but he gave up on his own. I went back and just pet him and massaged those ears for I don't know how long...I would have stayed all night if I could have...this is so difficult...Brutus was with us for such a short time, and I cannot help but to cry and cry. Brutus was our first baby before our son was born in 2000. When I was pregnant, he'd lay his head on my stomach and listen to the baby's heartbeat. There are so many good memories with this dog and I hope it is true, that we will see him once again because our house sure is empty without his big sappy face!! (We miss you terribly Bru!)
Thank you for letting me have this outlet to "cry."
