I think that if you don't get a brain scan done, then recommend it to the new owners.

My BF had a dog when he was little that had the same head problems as Zeus, & the dog ended up going nuts after time, then attacking members of the family. The last straw was when the dog had my BF pinned up against a wall. The dog had to be put down in the end.

I'm so glad your child is doing fine now.

If it were Rogue I would want to know myself if there was something going on upstairs that a scan might show. It may just be a case that Zeus just needs to be on his meds again.

A child free zone is a better option for him though - What a shame for your family.

ZeusMamma, thanks for the update! It's good to hear that you all are doing so much to find Zeus a home and looking out for him to see that he doesn't end up in a bad situation. My thoughts and prayers are with you and I hope something good comes through soon for everyone involved.

I give you so much credit for going the extra mile to find a new forever home for thie wonderful dog. I know it is causing you great pain but clearly the right thing for you and your family. I hope all turns out well for all of you.

Maybe you could use boxer cur (see the transport forum) for the transport. Since you cannot exchange private info via this board maybe Abbey's Mom could find your Craig’s listing and get in touch with you that way.

Sounds like a good idea since I have no idea how we can connect otherwise. I am totally open to suggestions for contact and CUR.

Another idea: Maybe both of you could decide on a particular rescue (one who is approved by BW) and see if they would be willing to be an intermediate. Meaning you each call the rescue and leave your name and number and state its ok for your information to be given to the other person. Also it might be helpful to get the advice of a rescue. You each could explain your situation to them and see if in their professional opinion if they think this exchange would be the best situation for everyone involved.

Or maybe both of you could sign up for Boxer Cur and exchange info that way?

I know all rescues & cur are probably over loaded and don’t have a lot of time however they just might be willing to help guide your decision and help you exchange info for Zeus sake.

I know there are some very active rescue workers who are members of BW maybe one of them can chime in here???

I really hope there is a happy ending for Zeus.

I'm so sorry to hear about this. Please look for a boxer rescue of some sort because if you take him to a pound, they will put him down.

I know you said Zues is in perfect health, but this same situation happened to my sister and her husband. Come to find out, their basset hound had some neurological issues. He, unfortunately, had ot be put to sleep because the vet feared it would only get worse.

Best of luck...

Well, after long talks with my DH and 5 too many inappropriate new home canidates calling, we decided that local rescue was best. We discussed sending him to you Abbey's Mom but our worry is climate- he's lived in SD all his life where it's pretty warm year round (80 today), and also we would worry about how he'd do with a long transit. The lady from the local rescue came and picked Zeus up yesterday. She made us feel very comfortable with our decision and that he would be placed in a great home. When I let Zeusy in our lil guy completely lost it and started bawling so although a horrible situation that reassured me more that Zeus having a new home is best for everyone. Thank you all for your support and suggestions. We did let the lady know what happened and he will be placed as in a home with adults. This will be a hard thing for our family for a long time I'm sure- I miss him already, but I really felt there was no other option :(.

So glad that you found a rescue that understands the situation and is willing to work to find him a loving home with adults. I'm sure with your love and support your little boy will do very well. It sounds as if you have handled an awfully tough situation incredibly well, with love and compassion for your son and your dog. Warm thoughts and hugs for all of you.

The whole situation must have been heartbreaking for your family. I'm so sorry you all have had to go through this. I'm glad the rescue is willing to work with him. Will they update you once he's adopted? I'm praying for a happy ending...
