I have been on othrodogs forum and message board and I have been reading about the dogs having surgery for the limping. I hate to act stupid but I don't know what the real name for what Gabby has. The Vet told me she has a torn ligiment in her knee.
What is the medical term for this.
Help

Hello, I hope your furbaby is feeling better. I believe it is a torn ACL but I am no expert. I suggest searching torn ligament here on BW. You will get lots of helpful info.

Thats what our Rocky had was ACL in both knees. It happened when he was about 6 & then again when he was 7 or so. We are so glad that we had it done even though it was quite costly. It gave him total mobility back, he just never could sit properly again, ended up with a callous on one butt cheek lol. Took quite a few weeks to heal starting with no mobility at first,his leg was in a type of sling thingee, to very very short walks increasing the distance over the following weeks. My best wishes to you and Gabby, I know she will feel sooo much better after having this surgery :)

So glad to hear you're "lurking" on orthodogs...don't be afraid to ask ANY question of the good folks there. We were all in your position at one time, hearing these terms and not understanding. The terms you will be hearing over there..."torn ACL (or CCL) ruptured ACL, Traditional surgery, TPLO, meniscus damage/repair/removal, all might have to do with your dog's injury.
There are people there who have opted not to do the surgery and you will get their advice and opinions. There are people that have had more than one of these surgeries (I'm one of them).
If you have any questions, or concerns...ask away, we consider all questions reasonable.
