Boxer Booster
could be diabetes

in response to your question about the polyuria(++peeing) and polydipsia (+++Drinking) I have a 7 year old rottie, and we noticed about 2 months ago she began drinking, and peeing tons, she was slowing down, and began losing weight. The weight thing went relatively unoticed b/c we were trying to drop a few pounds off her because she was about 7lbs overweight. Then she starting not eating gradually. we tried everything to get her diet to improve, then we started to notice her stopping when she was being walked, and she had a slight limp in her rear end. her vision was also being effected ( we realized this later ). Over a weekend, we said.. "this isnt right, something is going on with her... " so I made a vet appt, and that day she was vomiting green bile like vomit, couldnt hold anything in. at 6pm she got to the vet, they did stat bloodwork, the vet basically said she was in liver failure from the diabetes, and she had pancreatitis. Three days at the clinic Iv fluids, antibiotics and rest.. she still wouldnt eat.. the vet was not optimistic about her recovery, her feared the liver damage was too severe. Anyhow.. to shorten this up. She's ok now, on 2 insulin injections a day, closely monitored diet and seems to be getting bettter. This happened about 3 weeks ago. We thought we were going to lose her. If your gut tells you something is not right, go to the vet... if we had of picked up the signs quicker none of what we went through would have happened.
