Well I was called by a friend of mine today who was out getting her guys some food from a local natural dog food store/kennel/groomer and she told me that they had a boxer girl there for adoption. She is approx. 1-2 years old, fawn with white stripe down her nose and on her toes, natural ears and docked tail. They say she is just the sweetest girl ever. She is currently in heat and will have to be spayed and I know nothing of her health. They just got her in and she has not been health tested yet for heartworms etc. They said she has basic obedience, but does like to jump up on people (so does Joe...we are working on that one). My main concern is if she is crate trained. Since I am in the apartment she will need to be in her crate during the day while I am at work and I can't have her barking her head off all day long. My neighbors would complain needless to say and I could loose my apartment. So I am to go and meet her tomorrow morning and take Joe to meet her too and see how they get along. They said she does not like small dogs, but likes big dogs and she does not like cats! No problem since we don't have a cat ;)

So I guess we shall see and maybe I will soon be adding to our family! Please keep your fingers crossed for us that it all works out.

Hmmm

Well, I guess I'd wait to see how you get along with the dog. I think boxers being as vocal as they seem to be or at least as MINE seems to be. that if you're concerned about the barking perhaps it might not be the greatest idea since you aren't sure of the past. However maybe with some good training, she'd be ok?

Good luck!

Good luck and keep us posted. I adopted Dallas at 2 yrs old and he rarely barks -- a big plus because I'm also in an apartment!

I am also about to go and meet a girl called Bouncer - she is 16months old and is looking for a new home as her current owners weren't meant to have pets in their rented house and they got busted so she has to go.
The only problem is she is 8 hours away, so I am going to the city and going to meet her on the way and will make my decision when we come home.
From the picture I have seen of her, she is a pretty big girl. I have got a photo that is when she is 6 months old and she looks bigger than my Tyson who is quite big.
Can't wait to see her though. I have already got my mind set on getting her, but I would like to see how she will react to me.
Good luck with yours. They are addictive boxers. it drives me mad!

Good Luck, Joe sounds like a sweet boy. How could any one, especially a Boxer girl, say no to that face!! I'd be tripping all over myself and Minxie agrees!!

Hi
Just wondered how u got on - did you take the little bitch home and did she settle?
One thing that puzzles me - do you leave your dogs all day long in a crate?

Why does this puzzle you:confused: ? A crate is not only the safest place for a dog, when unsupervised, but it keeps anything (furniture, carpet, bedding, curtains, mini blinds) from being destroyed. Both of mine are crated all day (while I'm away), and at night. They go in there on their own, and love it.

Yeah, Storriappicon , we have our fingers and paws crossed for you too. We can't wait to meet her, if all goes well. ;)

Well the pretty boxer girl did not work out :( First of all she and Joe did not seem to like each other that much and I was really worried about how she would be with my 7 year old. She was quite large (much bigger than Joe) and extremely hyper (more so than any other boxer I have seen). She needs tons of training (which I would not mind doing, but I don't think my living situation would have been fair to her needs). She will be better off with someone who does not work and give her all the training and attention that she deserves. They are still searching for her original owners and have not done any health testing on her, so even if I wanted her, she was not ready to go any where at this point and time. I so hope she finds the right forever home if her original owners are not located.

Best of luck to her ;)
