Nixxon is almost 5 months old and his other testicle hasnt dropped yet. The vet said cant feel it when she does her exams but when we get him neuter she will have to go "hunting" for the other one. Any reason why his other testicle hasn't dropped? Is it serious or require additional surgery or whatnot? Sorry I am a noob to male dogs.

Thanks in Advance

My boy had the same problem. It basically becomes a spay instead of a neuter. My boy ended up with 3 incisions (not very long), one at his scrotum to get the normal testicle one in the crease of his leg and one near the base of his penis as they had to hunt. Yes it typically lengthens the time of the surgery (and thus will increase your bill it will not be a typical neuter bill), and the recovery is a bit longer (for us it was 7 days of ZERO activity and 7 days of minimal activity), but no long term effects at all. They should be neutered due to this though as leaving it will increase the chances of testicular cancer by leaps and bounds, but once the neuter is done no there is no long term issues. If you got your boy from a reputable breeder though you should inform them as it is a genetic condition and if they are decent breeders they will want to know. And no additional surgery. They remove the testicle same as they would if it was in the scrotum it's just hiding instead. My vet said she had one once that was a 3 hour surgery but she finally found it hiding behind the LIVER LoL. But no, once they have found it, no biggie and no long term issues whatsoever.

My boy had it done when he was 6 months, he'll be 2 years tomorrow and it's just a distant memory, nothing terrible at all for us.

Good luck!

Our Bubby on had one testicle too. Surgery went fine. There is a better chance of getting an infection when the open them up. Don't be shy ask lots of questions and if something doesn't look right afterwards ask lots of questions. Bubby was fine afterwards. No lasting effects. Hope all goes well. Please keep us posted.

My very first boxer, Max, had two undescended testicles. His neuter (spay) was uneventful and all was fine. Good luck.

My 4.5 month old boy, Diesel, has the same, 1 nut. After taking him to the vet for the first time at 11 weeks, they told me that he has only 1 nut and mostly likely the other will not make it down. I then email the breeder to let them know, they insisted that he had both when he was handed to me and that he as most likey sucked it back up due to stress of moving homes. (vet vs breeders = tit for tat)

Anyway it does not really bother me as he will be getting de-sexed any way. Just a little more costly for the op.
