Please get this surgery done and also find the best vet you can. Duke had this surgery done on Monday (neither or his testicles dropped) and because we didn't research our vets, we almost lost him due to complications (and neglect on the vet's part) on Wed. Fortunately, we rushed him to an all-night emergency vet and they hooked him up to IVs, reopened his stiches, drained an infection, and put in a drain. He now is wearing a cone (which has slowed him down) but within two days is as speedy as ever! He's even eating (which he was not doing before)!

Of course, after we had it done, everyone was saying, "Oh, I wouldn't go to that vet..." Why they didn't say this before we went there is beyond me. But because it's a more complicated surgery, please research vets!!

I think it's really strange that the breeders do not want you to neuter. That is none of their business, actually, unless they made you sign a spay/neuter contract (and I believe spay/neuter contracts offered by responsible breeders would be more likely to REQUIRE you to spay/neuter, NOT keep the dog unnecessarily intact!).

Search the forums here for other issues related to leaving a male intact, including some of those mentioned above such as much higher risk of aggressive incidents, wandering (to find a mate/intact bitch), incontinence much more likely later in life, and of course my favorite - marking everything in sight, including couches and walls (makes it difficult to take your dog anywhere without risking a smelly, embarrassing incident). With an undescended testicle you won't be breeding him anyway (not responsibly, anyhow) so neuter him ASAP to prevent having to deal with emergency issues or early cancer and such.

You're not alone

Our puppy Champ is nearly five months old and he too has one testicle that hasn't dropped. The first one took a while to drop, and whilst we can feel his other one and have been waiting in hope that it will drop sometime soon, I think we need to accept it will never happen. Going by the responses on this forum, I would certainly want to have him neutered.

Well.... Thanks for the support and advise. Today 7AM I dropped Atticus off at the vet for the sugury. We are very confident in our vet and feel this is the best decision for Atti.

By the way who ever said I didnt post a intro check again because it is there and has been there since day one.
Thanks

That would be the site owner (and I don't recomend being rude to him if you wish to remain on his site ;)). And you posted your introduction half an hour after he asked you to.

The later post in this thread about introductions is clearly addressed to a different member (by name).

It wasnt ment to be rude. Sorry if it came accross that way. Its hard to get the tone right when typing.

I did make the mistake of not doing the intro but was promptly corrected and I fixed it. There was another post from someone other than the first warning several days later that the last comment was intended for. the Check again was so they can see the intro and see where we come from.

Sorry again it was not ment offend.
