update on Molly

First I would like to thank all of you for the advice given. It has really helped and my family and I are so happy that others are willing to share it with us. Molly is still weak but a little more active. We have continued to feed her and give her water. The medication given to her seems to be working. She still sleeps a lot but her stool seems to be getting more solid and she is able to keep more down. Thank you for all your prayers. I will keep you informed of her progress.

That sounds a little more positive, I am so glad.

Have you contacted the breeder yet to see if the other puppies are infected?

Keep up the good work on Molly.

Molly is up and her old self

I still am amazed at the change that can happen in just a few hours. Molly has gone from weak to running around and playing with everything she finds along the way. This morning she was up and ready to eat and drink on her own. I started to give her pepto yesterday, 1st milk and Hill's diet from the vet. This has helped tremendously. We give her nutri-cal three times a day and although she drinks on her own now I still give her water in a syringe every half hour. The results of the blood test were great. No parvo, no distemper and her white blood cells are fine. She does have coccidia which she has been taking medication for. The breeder came to visit Molly yesterday, he was concerned and assured us that Molly is of a different litter than Jehnna. My family and I are overjoyed to see that Molly is going to pull through. Thank you so much for your support, prayers and advice which have helped Molly regain her strength and health. I will keep you updated. Thank you again.

Any idea how to thicken up Molly ...

Now that Molly is up and about I know she needs to thicken up. I also know it shouldn't be done quickly. Any advice on how or what to feed her so she can stay healthy. I would appreciate any advice. Thank you.

I'm sure you'll get many replies for food recommendations. Before switching to BARF I fed Bil Jac for a few years then switched to Innova. Ingredient wise Innova is much better than Bil Jac but both kept my dogs in good health. I've never had a problem w/ weight gain or lose but have heard of many people feeding Bil Jac just for the purpose of putting weight on a dog. I have also heard of people not being able to feed Innova because it caused their dog to gain too much weight. Many also couldn't feed Innova due to the fact it causes some dogs to have very loose stools (it is believed that if the food is introduced in very small amounts and gradually increased this can be avoided). This may be something you would want to check into first seeing as how yours has been sick. But, from what I have heard both are known to pack on the weight.:)
