Yeah, at 13 weeks, take her out often and just over time gradually cut back.

Our boxer (9 months) goes to the door and whines... I honestly don't know if it's because he has to go to the bathroom or just wants to go outside and play.

Our terrier is 4+ years old, and never gives any indication that she needs to go out. She goes out a lot more since we got the puppy, but before that, we'd let her out pretty much on the same schedule every day (morning, after work, early evening, before bed). I can't remember her ever going to the door or doing anything to "ask" to go out.

Hi!

Yes, the bell is definetely a good one. i don't have one for Bruno, I have "cat flap" instead.Bruno was same, he did not let us he needed to go. I used to take him after every nap and food and during the day, but it was all me. Then I read about the bell here. So as I said I have a catflap at the back door, that dog has access to during the day. It took me only TWO attempts to show him he needs to "flap the cat flap" and he got it. Too much sometimes. He would paw at it, if he wanteds to do business, or if he wanteds to go outside to play, sometimes it drove me crazy, but now he is 20 month old, and only uses it when he "needs" to. And we never looked back. So I would say, get a bell, or something that you will hear from anywhere in the house, and I am sure your pup will get the idea very quickly. They are boxers after all, they love using their paws (or at least mine does).x
