Well today was Major's first day at puppy class, and what a day it was!!
It was a small class, thank goodness for that, five puppies, but he was still very distracted and excited by the other puppies. He had never been around that many since his littermates, especially none that were bigger than him. So he didn't do very well when we were working on commands, but that was expected and I'm sure he will get over it once he gets used to it, because towards the end he was doing much better. And then at the end of the class the trainer said we could do puppy play, but keep the leashes on just in case. So he was doing fine with the other puppies until a big chocolate lab male came over to check him out, and he got scared and went ape! He started snarling, and growling and tackling this poor puppy. We pulled them apart and tried again, but it got worse, so I had to seperate him from the rest of the group.
The trainer said that it was probably nerves, and just all noise, but we would have to work with him on that. I was wondering if anyone else had this problem and any other ideas. I hope since he's young we can get him out of that behavior.
