OCD re the dog sitter

I just typed out 2 whole pages (single spaced) of instructions for the dog sitter for this weekend...

and I still feel like I am omitting something important. What is wrong with me?! haha

I did that when we boarded Johann for a week. But he went to the same place he goes for daycare....for the last year. Pretty sure the owner thinks I'm crazy now.

When my sister came to babysit my kids for me the first time after I got Coco I gave her about fifteen minutes worth of instructions on the dog. Then I would call to check on Coco. I wasn't even worried about my kids at all. LOL!

You know you hit boxer bottom when taking them to be kenneled or having a sitter in is just too stressful on YOU that you decide to stay home with them cause you just KNOW that's what's best! LMAO Yeah, I'm THAT GIRL!

My family/friends/co-workers already think I am crazy for hiring an over-night pet sitter to stay with them at the house. Fortunately this way, it's no more expensive than taking them to a pampered boarding facility and they get to stay in their own environment. This way we pay for only 2 nights and not 3 days.

I'm still nervous, first time leaving them with strangers, but it was a lot to ask of my friend who already has 2 weimereiners (sp?) to take them (along with their kennels and beds and toys, etc etc.) in for the weekend. I hope they are good for the sitter and don't destroy anything.

I not only left a list but since I had a dog on medication I wrote on the bottles. On the other hand I've heard the story when my Dad was about 18, my grandparents took my uncles and went on vacation. My grandmother wrote down "all" the things my Dad had to do. (feed the dog, water plants, etc) My grand parents came home and all the fish were dead because my grandmother forgot to put "feed the fish" on the list. So my feeling is leave the list, underline everything if you want. Another thing is leave a note stating that in case of an emergency your sitter has permission to get your babies treated. Probably won't need it but better safe than sorry.

It's actually in the contract. I got the contact for this business (Fetch Pet Care) from the trainer we have been using. They are trained/licensed/bonded/insured. I felt pretty comfortable with that since this is their business. I checked them out with the BBB and they haven't had any complaints and they come recommended from my trainer. It will certainly be an interesting experience for us and I think if it goes well it will be a nice option to have. Apparently they try to be consistent with the trainers when available so the dogs will get to know the sitter. They also offer in home daily visits (if we get really busy at work this would be a nice option to have) and other services.

The sitter we got came by for a visit to meet the pups and go over everything and he was really good with them. Although, the only thing that concerned me is that the guy is smaller than me and owns a chihuahua. My dogs may drag him around a bit since my 6'4 husband likes to play really rough with them. Ahh well...fun for them I suppose

I've left in my memo a list of emergency contacts including our vet and a personal friend who knows the dogs well and also knows of Millie's condition (juvenile kidney disease). Hopefully he won't need any emergency contacts, but then again...you never really know what can happen.

Aww! When we leave for weekends, I usually leave a two page long list of how to take care of Asia! Everyone already knows, but it makes me feel better! I have OCD, but I think this is just being careful!
