Nutro Dog Food Concerns

Hey there. I wanted to get some opinions on this article written on Consumeraffairs.com

They talk about many dogs illnesses and deaths because of Nutro. I have never heard of this before and Orion was on Nutro Natural Choice Lamb and Rice since he turned a year old. I don't know what to think. I'm printing this out and bringing it to the vet with me today.

This has been going on for awhile now, at least a year maybe longer. I believe they had a recall during the food recalls last year (but don't hold me to that), but I know there have been a TON of consumer opinions on Nutro making their dogs really sick and in some cases killing them. The ingredient panel isn't the greatest, but it isn't terrible, but due to the things I have heard and the controversy surrounding the company that's the #1 reason I don't recommend it to people.

I think it's definitely worth looking into but unfortunately, no matter the outcome of if it did or didn't make him sick, the current circumstances aren't changed, although it may give you some peace of mind.

I don't have specifics, but I do think there is something going on with Nutro. Last year, after they launched their Venison and Herring formulas, the Venison was unavailable for a while due to the fact they were getting the venison from Australia I believe and mating season was causing supply issues.

They resolved that, but then according to the reps there was an issue with the rice, which caused shortages for almost every Nutro NC formula. From my understanding, that has been pretty much resolved. Now...could they be using a different rice? I don't have that answer, but might be something to it.

Wow, that is very scary stuff if you use Nutro. Scary also because what would it take for a dog food company to publicly alert it's customers to a potential problem? Sadly, I think we all can imagine the answer to that. Seems like Nutro responded by pulling product, and just letting it's customers' finish off the already purchased, possible tainted food because nobody could prove anything. I do hope there is nothing wrong with their food, but something doesn't sound right. I hope you are able to get some answers from you vet. Good luck, and again so sorry for your loss of Orion.

That is really scary! I read through that entire article and was just appalled at some of the things in there. Hopefully you are able to find some answers.

Wow that article is very disturbing!! My brother feeds his Rott nutro I immediatly called and gave him the website to look at, thanks for sharing this info!
