First let me say "congratulations" on your new addition. Kobe is beautiful, just adorable. A true treasure to be loved...a treasure that will return your love ten-fold!! Your life is about to take a whole new direction filled with laughter, uncontrollable joy and a whole lot of wiggling and big ol sloppy smooches. Enjoy every minute of it and don't worry about what lies down the road. You will eventually lose any pet you have, so you might as well have the very best...and you now do!!
We lost our Hannah last month at the age of nine. Altough she was beseiged with health problems for the last three years, the joy, unconditional love and courage that she gave us was incredible. Even after losing the use of her back legs, she made it clear to us that she could handle it if we could....so we bought her a doggie cart and away she went. Over the last few months, we knew what was ahead and we went out of our way to make her the happiest girl we could and she did the same for us. She was a real trooper right up to the end. Now I'm not going to sugar coat it for you...it hurt to lose her. The hurt and sadness at times was even physically overwhelming, but I can tell you this the nine years and three months that we had that precious girl with us was worth every tear, every heartache and then some.
We also have Goliath who is 11 and is as healthy as can be and you bet I now think of the day he will have to leave us also, but then I realize that since that day is bound to come, that I'd better get busy and continue to spoil him just as rotten as I possibley can. Craig, you do the same...love him just as hard as you can and let him return that love to you and in the end you'll understand that your life's journey with Kobe was the best thing you ever did. I promise. So, get busy you have some loving to do! Enjoy it, OK? djk

:( This thread is kind of sad, but true. I too have often thought about losing one of my precious babies. Jake had his 3rd birthday yesterday and it has gone by so fast. I guess you just have to cherish the time that you do have with them and enjoy it and try not to worry about what tomorrow will bring. It's just a part of life, but I know I will be devastated when it happens. Only a true dog or animal lover would know the feeling of love for a pet.

I think that you will find that they are living a little bit longer now. Our Brenin was 11 1/2 years, and a friend of ours had her beautiful girl 14 1/2 years. I know of several that lived over 12. Just enjoy them and don't think about it, they are worth every minute you are together. Kobe will keep you happy & laughing at all of the things he gets up to.

I recently lost my Chivas after 10 years, and while it is upsetting, I realize he had 10 years of his life full of love. lovicon
