I'm in the process of trying to adopt. My home visit is scheduled for Monday. I wish this didn't take so long. I have my eye on one paticular white boxer and am afraid someone else will get him. Mojo needs a buddy. Ok, Ok I need another furbaby too! Wish me luck and any advise would be great!

Good luck on your adoption and such a wonderful thing to do. I have a way of looking at things and that is if this dog is meant for you you will get her and if not another one that needs you more will come along. I know you are anxious. When my daughter and her fiancee were adopting Abby (mixed breed) from the shelter this past winter they had to go through the same process and they were in a panic thinking they weren't going to get her. But it all worked out and she has brought so much love to their home they can't imagine life without her. Please keep us posted. All the best. We'll keep our fingers and paws crossed for you.

Just as a word of advice to others . . . if you know you are interested in adopting from a rescue, your best bet it so apply and then seek out a good match. It's always tough when people apply with the expectation that they can adopt a particular dog (though sometimes it does work out that they can adopt the dog they have their eye on). We have dozens of approved applicants on file at any given time so if an approved applicant (or a former adopter) inquires about a dog first, they will be given preference over someone who has just started the application process.

finding the right match

You are totally right! I've decided to meet several rescues and see which wone is the best match for us and the dog. My kids want a paticular look but I'm trying to tell them, if the dog doesn't fit right in our family, they won't care what he looks like. I'm going to be patient in my search, but I know that we will save a precious furbaby soon.

adopting

I have a brindle male now and just thought the white ones are so cute. But I've decided any color is fine as long as it is a right fit. I'm looking at a check, white, and fawn.

Patiently waiting
