Not sure about adopting 2nd boxer

I'm not sure if this is the correct forum. I'm really sorry if it isn't. There is a "young" female boxer in our local shelter that was picked up as a stray. Apparently she had puppies and then was just dumped somewhere. Anyway, I already have a 3-yr. old male boxer and two skin kids (plus husband). I've been wanting to adopt another boxer for quite a while and now looks like a good opportunity to help a boxer in need. However, my husband isn't completely convinced that this is something we should do. Can you guys pleeeeeeeeeze point out all the benefits of having a two-boxer home? If it doesn't work out I hope she finds a great home, but I wish it would be ours. Thanks so much.

When getting another puppy please make sure it's the right thing for your family and that you will be able to provide a forever home. If this one dosen't pan out you can also check with your local boxer rescue they are great with finding the right fit for you family and the right fit for the puppy dog!

First of all, if you aren't ready to adopt, go to boxermap.com and find the nearest boxer rescue near you and contact them to make sure that they are aware that the boxer is in that shelter. They might already be on a "last call" list for that baby. If you are thinking about adopting, then take your boy up there to meet her and see if they get along ok. If so, it might work wonderfully for you!! We have a boy and a girl boxer and it is GREAT! We adopted our girl this summer (she was our foster, and we kept her) and they get along beautifully. It's actually much easier for us to have 2 boxers than it was to have 1, Gus needed so much of our time before we got Maggie, and now he burns a lot of his energy tumbling around the house with her. Now, the vet bills are higher of course...and food, hw preventitive, flea/tick solution....etc. but it's SO worth it, we are such a happy, complete family now Keep us updated on what you decide!

We got Samson from a breeder in February 2004. Last January, we decided to adopt Hannah from the shelter. It was one of the best decisions we ever made. Samson is so much happier to have another dog in the house. It gives him someone to play with and somebody to keep him company in the crate beside him while we are at work. When walking, my husband and I each have a dog now. It's not that much harder to feed two and clean up after two. Just make sure you are prepared for twice the food bills and vet costs.

In my personal opinion having two is more fun, easier, & better for the dogs. Although as someone else said there is the added cost.

Truthfully though if your unsure about it, it is probably best to wait.
