Not sleeping through the night

We brought our first puppy home about three weeks ago this Friday. We were having her sleep in her crate at first, but now that we are back to work and she is being crated during the day (we have a pet sitter come mid-day), we have been trying the teathering thing...tying her leash around one of the bed posts, and then she has her dog bed right next to our bed. She has done very well with this, no accidents (though she can't go far) and she seems to like it better.

My question about her behavior is this...she still is not sleeping through the night. She will be 12 weeks on Friday. Is this normal? We usually go to bed between 9:30-10:00pm and are up at 5:00am, and she always wakes up at least once, and a lot of times, twice, during the night. I figured one time would be normal to go during the night, but I didn't know if it is normal to take her out more than once? I hear her whining throughout the night, but it's hard to tell if she really needs to go, or if she's just whining to whine. Should I just ignore her and then only let her out once halfway through the night around 1:00am? For example, last night we went to bed at 9:30pm, she was up at 11:30pm...so I let her out potty. Then she was up again at around 2:00am, so we took her out. Then again at 4:30am, but I told her to be quiet and she just layed down until our alarm went off at 5:00am.

I am not sure what is normal here and at what point she might actually start sleeping through the whole night with us. Any advice/experiences with your boxers will help!!

Ah yes, I don't miss those days. They seem so long ago! (Suki is 6 months). Yes, she may need to go out all those times. If she is going potty when you let her out, then I wouldn't stop doing it. I did start setting an alarm. I went to bed between 9-10, set the alarm for 2, and slowly started letting it go later and later to get her used to it. Suki was about 4 or so months before she could go through the entire night. And I kept her next to the bed until she could sleep through the night. That way she could alert me rather than have an accident.

Be patient...it takes several months. But before you know it, they are sleeping through the night getting so big you can barely lift them. :)

Dont know if this is still a problem since it was a couple weeks ago but when is the last time you let her have water in the evening? If possible maybe try to cut it off earlier. I am by far no expert but I have a 10 week old puppy who is sleeping through the night. (9:30 pm to 6am) Maybe Im just lucky :).
Hope you have found some relief since the post!

Extra

Try an extra walk around the block walk right before bed....that used to work like a charm in getting our boy through the night. You might notice that he will wake up later and later until one day you notice a constant "wake-up" time.....ours is 6:35 on the dot!!!
