Hi Sam

Wow it is hard to believe she is coming up a year!! Time sure flies! Has it been since you stopped crating her that she got worse? My opinion would be, to go back to using the crate while you are at work, continue coming home for lunch to let her out for awhile then back in until your day ends at work. I found with Buddy, at the one year mark, I too thought it was kinder to let him have the roam of the house, but frankly, Buddy could not handle the lack of security his crate offered. So, he was recrated and the toileting and destructive issues stopped.
Our daily routine went kinda like this

Up at 7am. Buddy outside for toileting then back in to eat. We then went for a walk, then he went into the backyard for some freeplay/run etc. while I got ready for work. Once I was ready, he was exercised enough to go into his crate and rest. I left by 9am for work. The neighbor came in mid day to let him out for toileting and a run in the back yard, then recrated him until I arrived home at 6pm. Keeping up this routine actually for most of his life kept him happy, exercised and gave him a toileting routine.
